Mini Aceman 2025: Electric crossover inspired by concept

The new Mini Aceman has been unveiled. It is a new electric crossover from Mini and a preview of a future production car that will be an alternative to cars like the Peugeot e-2008 and the Volkswagen ID3.

Thanks to a series of spy photos of the Aceman test car, we can show exclusive images of what the finished crossover model is expected to look like – and it’s clear that it will take a lot of inspiration from the original concept version.

Fans of the MINI Sports Activity Coupe would be happy to hear that the nameplate is coming back, this time with proper doors, an all-electric powertrain, and no “P”! Here’s everything we know so far about the MINI Aceman (codename: MINI J05):

design

The Aceman should get the oddly shaped, polygonal headlights of its concept version, marking a clear departure from MINI’s classic design theme. The unusual motif of the wheel arches and chunky alloy wheels would give it a rugged and robust design on the sides.
The MINI Aceman embodies the brand’s new design language – ‘Charismatic Simplicity’. It will look unmistakably MINI, but much sharper, bolder and more confident than the Paceman. Some reports say that the Aceman would also fill the gap of a 4-door Hatch EV in the MINI lineup.

Although the Aceman will have regular doors instead of the old double doors, it should still look just as sporty as the first-generation Paceman. Expect a similar coupe-style profile with a greenhouse tapering towards the rear and steeply raked rear glass. The Aceman would avoid using MINI’s typical circular headlights and feature more aggressive, angular headlights. Spy images have shown the headlights of the production version, including angular DRLs similar to those on the concept.

The taillights would also be completely new, stacked vertically to better match the crossover body style and provide a striking contrast to clean, horizontal surfaces at the rear. Both may feature matrix LED lighting technology, allowing for different lighting scenarios depending on the situation.

A large hexagonal grille would dominate most of the front end and would be completely closed. A compact grille in the lower part would suffice the cooling needs. Flush door handles and clean surfaces would give the crossover a minimalist design on the sides. On the other hand, strongly contoured and generously dimensioned wheel arches with flat and geometrically modeled surfaces, 20-inch alloy wheels in a beefy (and aerodynamic) design and a roof rack would create a contrast and make clear the overall adventurous character of the model.

Inner

The interior of the MINI Aceman would feature a flat design with a sleek dashboard, a compact center console and a large circular OLED touchscreen for the infotainment system.

An elongated climate control panel offers physical controls with retro toggle switches. The steering wheel should be equipped with touch control buttons. MINI will offer leather-free and fully vegan surface materials for the interior in this model.

Future electric cars from MINI will feature improvements in efficiency, design and sustainability. The UK says MINI is saying goodbye to leather. Sustainable alternatives to leather will be used in future MINI models.

Specifications

Platform & Dimensions
The MINI Aceman will be based on the next-generation MINI Electric’s dedicated EV platform, meaning it will take advantage of all the benefits that electric powertrain technology offers. It will not have a transmission tunnel, which should allow for a flat floor.

The Aceman would have short overhangs and a noticeably long wheelbase, providing maximum space for passengers and luggage in a minimal footprint. Expect a length of around 4.05 m (159.4 in), a width of around 1.99 m (78.3 in), and a height of around 1.59 m (62.6 in).

Battery & Range
On November 11, 2022, Auto Express reported that MINI would offer the Aceman in two variants at launch. The base variant would have an engine producing around 180 hp and a 40 kWh battery pack delivering a range of up to 200 miles (WLTP). The top-end variant would use a more powerful motor producing around 215 hp and a larger 50 kWh battery pack giving it a longer range of 250 miles (WLTP).

Price

The MINI Aceman would challenge entry-level premium electric crossovers like the Mercedes EQA and Smart EVs . Positioned between the Mini Cooper EV and the Countryman EV, the Aceman could be priced at around 35,000 euros.
