The theoretical and material basis of the Japanese urban crossover GAC Aion V served as the basis for the development of the Mitsubishi Airtrek EV electric vehicle aimed at the Celestial Empire market.

The model “Airtek” of the current year is announced in the segment of key cars of budget configuration with a mileage of up to 400 km without recharging. The main technical and operational characteristics of the new model range have not yet been published.
Design
The new model is scheduled to roll off the production line in , but technical sources show the electric crossover in a preliminary advertising version. The photo and short videos demonstrate the camouflaged new body of the electric compact crossover:
- Panoramic format and gentle tilt angle of the windshield;
- ribbed side walls of the convertible top cover rounded along the front edge;
- non-standard two-stage arrangement of the front optics with bright dotted running lights;
An X-shaped imitation of a decorative pseudo-radiator grille, equipped with air diffusers.
In the lower segment of the front end, the trapezoidal ribbed perimeter of the ventilation duct and the decorative and protective metal panel of the plastic body kit are clearly visible. In addition to the sporty, dynamic body reliefs, the Chinese version of the Mitsubishi Airtrek EV promises a multitude of bright and expressive chrome accents.
Practicality and strict functionality dominate in the design and equipment of the side panels of the new crossover. Attention attracts:
- slim silver contour and high-gloss black side glazing pillars;
- a limited list of graduated body reliefs, concentrated on the doors and the semi-circumferences of the wheel arches;
- a protective “plastic skirt” along the entire bottom edge of the case.
Despite the high ground clearance and rims enlarged to 18 inches, the off-road potential of the crossover is limited by the undisputed front-wheel drive.
The appearance of the rear part of the new electric “Airtek” is modeled on the same type model of the GAC Aion V series with minor changes. In stock – a sharp edge of the aerodynamic visor of the rear window, a spoiler lip of the large-format tailgate, decorated with the company logo and chrome-plated nameplates.
Under the ribbed profile of the narrow bumper – the diagonal of the body kit mudguard, equipped with three-stage anti-fog lampshades. The entourage is noticeably enlivened by a three-beam configuration and in many respects exclusive graphics of position and brake lights. The restyling of the budget electric car, expected in the foreseeable future, according to the published comments, will practically not affect the layout and body structure.
Inner
In contrast to the prototype, in the new incarnation of the Cross, the range of finishing and decoration of the salon interior is expanded, the functionality of standard options is increased, the profiling and ergonomics of all seats are updated.
Already in the first generation, the new electric car will receive a semi-sports steering wheel with two blocks of command touch buttons, a digital “cleaning” that can be operated in three modes and a diagonally identical display of a multimedia complex expanded in many parameters.
On the lower level of the dashboard there is a block of adjustable ventilation deflectors.
On the surface of the central tunnel there is a washer for switching the main driving modes, a container for small items closed with a curtain and an armrest, which in parallel serves as a cover for the refrigerator compartment.
The class of the novelty assumes a fairly high level of driving comfort for all five seats. The advantages of the pilot seats are lateral support and a typical list of adjustment ranges. The rear sofa will be able to offer a folding armrest and nominally a lot of individual space for each of the three traveling companions.
Due to the large dimensions of the battery, there is no need to count on a spacious trunk. Perhaps the problem of transporting monoblock cargo will be solved by partial or complete transformation of the rear seats.
Technical characteristics
The dimensions of the Mitsubishi Airtrek electric crossover in the ratios 4586 x 1720 and 1728 mm determine its belonging to the category of cars with the advantages of a compact and medium-sized class. Medium-sized or ground clearance 2830/165 mm. Independent suspension combined, MacPherson struts on the front axle and a multi-link scheme on the rear axle.
The front-wheel drive chassis design includes a rolling stabilizer, disc brake kits and active road safety systems appropriate for the class. The crossover is equipped with an electric motor mounted on the front axle with an output of 183.5 hp / 350 Nm. The power source is modular batteries installed in the floor, which provide the crossover with a NEDC running time of 400 and 600 km.
Mitsubishi Airtrek EV Prices
There is no reliable information about the presence of transitional and top-end modifications. At the initial stage, the difference in cost will be determined by the energy capacity of the battery. The price of the base model Mitsubishi Airtrek EV , according to experts, will be set at 25,000 euros.
Competitors
The new electric cross has more than seven dozen real competitors on the world market. In the approximate list, the leading positions are occupied by the Volvo XC40 , Nissan Leaf , Kia Niro and Chevrolet Bolt models.
