Mitsubishi ASX 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

Subcompact crossovers are currently one of the most competitive segments in the automotive industry, so the current generation of this crossover is quite different from most of its competitors. While most manufacturers practice short production cycles and annual updates, Mitsubishi has kept this model in production for a full decade.

SUV ASX

It is obvious that the redesign has to happen soon, but the latest reports suggest that the new model will not be ready for next year. Therefore, the Mitsubishi ASX will probably come without any major changes.

So you can count on a familiar layout that hasn’t changed too much despite two iterations in this decade-long production cycle. You can expect some drawbacks, but also some design features that make this crossover competitive even today. As for the launch date, we expect the Mitsubishi ASX to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year.

Engines

As for the powertrain, nothing will definitely change next year. Therefore, depending on which part of the world you are in, you can count on different engines in the offer. For example, the Australian model comes with a couple of petrol units. The base is a 2.0-liter engine with around 148 hp. A peepier 2.4-liter unit with a maximum power of 168 hp is also on offer. Both engines are also available in North America, where this model is called Outlander Sport.

On the other hand, European models also come in diesel variants. Earlier versions used Mitsubishi’s 1.8-liter turbodiesel, but newer versions use PSA’s turbodiesels. These are 1.6-, 1.8- and 2.0-liter units with a maximum power of 117, 140 and 150 hp, respectively. In Asia and some other markets, this crossover also comes with a more conventional 1.8-liter petrol engine. This has a maximum power of 140 hp.

Redesign

In terms of basic design features, we definitely don’t expect any changes for next year, especially considering that this should be the last year of production of the current generation. The mechanics will certainly remain the same and we don’t expect any changes in styling either. This model may be a decade old, but it definitely doesn’t look dated. There have been two redesigns in the last decade, and the latter was particularly big. It introduced an all-new front end that follows the brand’s latest design philosophy known as the Dynamic Shield design language, which characterizes pretty much every recent Mitsubishi model.

This version was introduced last year, so we have no doubt that the Mitsubishi ASX will not feature any major changes. Still, there is a possibility of seeing a few new color options and similar things.

Inner

Major changes inside aren’t expected either. The redesign is simply around the corner, so no major tweaks are needed for now. You can count on a familiar cabin design that has both good and bad sides. As for good things, we particularly like the cargo space. You can count on 615 liters (27.1 cubic feet) behind the second row, while the total cargo volume is 1,400 liters (49.5 cubic feet). Another thing we like about this cabin is the infotainment system, which is pretty basic and easy to use.

On the other hand, we really don’t like the dashboard design. It features a few soft-touch surfaces but most of them are just cheap plastic. Overall, the dashboard looks boring, what we also don’t like is the lack of headroom in the second row. On the other hand, the legroom in both rows is great.

Characteristics

Again, everything is expected to remain the same as the current model. That means you can count on a 7-inch touchscreen, a USB port, Bluetooth, a four-speaker stereo, and HD radio. That’s a pretty short list of tech goodies, but there are a lot of things that are available. Highlights include a larger 8-inch touchscreen, satellite radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a six-speaker stereo, an additional USB port, etc.

When it comes to safety, a rearview camera is the only standard feature, while the list of options is quite long. Some of the highlights include things like rear parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane change alert, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.

Release date and redesign

Since we won’t see any special changes for next year, we expect the Mitsubishi ASX to launch sometime in the last quarter of the year. This will most likely be the last model year of the current generation and the all-new model should arrive as early as next year.
