New BMW X2 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The upcoming BMW X2 will be interesting in several ways. The smallest coupe-crossover in the company’s lineup has been in its current form for about three years, and the Bavarian automaker is preparing significant novelties for the next model year.

SUV BMW X2

First, we see a new powertrain option. For the first time, this model will be offered in a hybrid version, equipped with the latest PHEV setup. You can also count on a mid-cycle refresh that will bring some styling tweaks, new standard equipment and minor revisions inside.

On the other hand, the overall layout will remain the same, which means you can rely on a familiar UKL platform that underpins all Series 1 and 2 models, as well as some Mini cars. The overall layout will certainly remain the same and unlike the new hybrid version, things will remain the same under the hood.

PHEV

Without a doubt, this will be the biggest novelty for next year. The brand new PHEV version will be available as the BMW X2 xDrive25e. It will be based on a well-known 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, which in this case produces around 125 horsepower. This engine is equipped with a six-speed gearbox that supplies power to the front axle. On the other hand, the rear axle is equipped with a 95-horsepower electric motor. So the total power is 220 horsepower and an impressive 283 pound-feet of torque.

With such numbers, you can count on respectable performance. We expect the new version to reach 60 in about 6.5 seconds, while the top speed will be 121 mph. This BMW X2 will come with a 10 kWh battery, which should ensure a decent all-electric range. According to the European cycle, it will go about 35 miles, but keep in mind that in reality the numbers are significantly lower.

Engines

Unlike the new BMW X2, things remain the same under the hood. Therefore, you can count on a familiar 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder that comes in two power variants. Base models come with a version that delivers around 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque.

You can also get an M-badged version that comes with an upgraded version of this engine that produces around 301 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque. With this engine, you can expect a 0-60 time of under five seconds.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine delivers around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Those are pretty average numbers for the class. On the other hand, the M35i is significantly thirstier, delivering around 23 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.

Design

In addition to the new PHEV version, the BMW X2 will also receive a mid-cycle refresh. The test model was spotted, but it still wears camouflage. However, considering that the Bavarian carmaker is usually not very generous with refreshes during a production cycle, we expect this refresh to bring only minor changes. This particularly refers to the front end, which may come with some revisions to parts such as the grille, bumper, etc. However, the overall layout will remain unchanged.

This means that the M-badged version will continue with familiar improvements that are not only aesthetic but also find improvements in terms of new wheels, body kit, etc. There are also improvements in terms of suspension, brakes and other body components.

Interior

Some changes are expected on the inside as well. However, we have no doubt that the basic layout will remain the same. The dashboard will retain the same outline, but there is a possibility of displaying new color schemes. Moreover, some additions in terms of tech extras can make this cabin look even more opulent.

The overall layout remains the same, which is definitely not a bad thing considering the current model already boasts a pretty amazing interior, done in BMW’s typical simplistic fashion but full of fine materials and great fit and finish.

When it comes to interior space, both rows are generous in terms of legroom. On the other hand, the rear seats are a bit tight in terms of headroom. This is due to the sloping roof design, which also negatively affects cargo volume. You can count on approximately 21.6 cubic feet behind the second row and 50 cubic feet of total cargo space.

Release date and price

We expect the BMW X2 to go on sale in a few months. The starting price will be €37,000 (Euro). Main competitors are models such as Audi Q3 , Mercedes Benz GLA , Lexus UX SUV.
