New Toyota Highlander 2025: price, consumption, picture, technical data.
Informed by the past, we are looking forward to the new Toyota Highlander . We have no official data on the next model, but we can only imagine the possibilities. Hybrids and electric vehicles are pushing the boundaries every day.
New Toyota Highlander
All manufacturers are following the trend and we are all happy about that. Why? This is the age of the industrial revolution. Everything is new and like new territory, exotic and exciting. We expect a wider range of hybrid engines for the Toyota Highlander and more efficient gasoline engines. From a stylistic point of view, the exterior and interior need to be updated with some new colors, materials and technologies.
Update: Many people think that with the upcoming Toyota Highlander, the Japanese automakers have managed to produce their best Highlander model yet. It’s a very valuable vehicle with a lot of things going its way. This is a three-row SUV model that can seat up to eight people, and it also marks Toyota’s entry into a fast and rapidly growing segment like not many others. But the vehicle manages to compensate with high safety scores, a very versatile interior, and a new and very powerful V-6 engine option that not many other competing cars will be able to compete against.
However, we are all excited about the inclusion of the Toyota Highlander Hybrid option. This promises to be the most fuel-efficient version in the segment. This is something that gives the Highlander a leg up in the competitive crossover segment. We are excited about this and include it in our update that gives you the latest news about this car.
Release date and price
Since we have nothing official to work with, no spy shots (everyone from Toyota has been so cautious) and no leaks from “company men,” we can’t be sure when to expect the exact Toyota Highlander and/or the exact price. If they finish development early next year and start the marketing campaign in the spring, they could theoretically have the vehicle ready for fall or winter release.
The price isn’t all flowers and rainbows. The predicted price for the base version will be higher than the current one, going north of €30,000 (Euro).
Update: We finally have an update for the Toyota Highlander release date. The vehicle was announced for its first appearance in early . This is still happening and we can now learn that it will be somewhere in February. Maybe some people were expecting it to come sooner, but actually, it’s the best we can hope for.
Huge steps forward for Toyota
Toyota is a huge company and they have just started moving their productions in too many different directions. One of them is activating all the possible assets they have in the TRD division and the other one which is most important is Toyota Works Motor Corp. They are all working together to create the best hybrid or EV possible.
Toyota Racing Development will produce top-notch construction, materials, designs and engine options, while Toyota Works Motor Corp. has some big plans for their future batteries.
TWMC is currently developing advanced lithium-ion batteries that will bring Toyota even closer to the range of Tesla cars. The main goal is to obtain a proper patent, which will be Toyota’s trademark in this field. Their progress is already visible in the latest Toyota Prius. The range is twice as long as previous models.
These moves will put Toyota at the top of the food chain. They move slowly but are affordable for the majority of customers, which we cannot say for Tesla.
Design
The Toyota Highlander exterior is not something that should bother anyone. The design has changed only slightly over the years, but they have some “touches” that are unique only to them. The large grille is an example of something that you cannot miss during the occasional highway drive. The quality of details will increase with models and trims. Headlights and taillights have only gone through some of the modifications over the years. Even on the latest model, there are some minor cosmetic touches here and there, but nothing that will make you smile. Nothing new. We can only hope for more radical changes that are not related to the grille. Leave the grille alone.
One of the features we still like about the current version of the Toyota Highlander is the rear window. You can open it without opening the cargo area. Few crossovers have this option.
Update: Many facts about the exterior of the Toyota Highlander are already known. However, recently we learned about some of the latest additions for the SE version. Compared to other trims in the lineup, the Highlander SE will tone down the use of chrome. Instead, it offers dark grille slats and 12-spoke wheels that are also darker. This is something people probably wanted to see from the model 20 years ago, but we see it working well even now. The model now gives us some innovations and brings out a different color for the segment.
inner space
The only thing we didn’t like is the lack of options for the interior of the Toyota Highlander. We don’t have high hopes for it in the future either. Toyota was very bold in implementing the third row. They even made the second and third seats foldable so you have extra space in your cargo area. But that’s not enough. You can get to the third row pretty easily (the second row seats are adjustable), but you tend to hit your head after hitting every pebble on the road. These things need to be fixed. So, we expect the Toyota Highlander to:
- A little higher than this year’s model (we don’t want to play with the ceiling anymore)
- A bit wider than this year’s model (my elbow doesn’t want to be bothered by the door anymore)
- Better infotainment system (the current one is fine, but we all want new gadgets, right?)
- And maybe a 22-inch central screen like in another car, but that’s a stretch.
Update: We have already learned about the interior of the Toyota Highlander and it will also be one of the points of the car that will be very likeable. The comfort and the simple yet innovative way in which the interior has been renovated shows once again that the vehicle is heading in a very favorable direction. We recently learned that all versions will have power-adjustable seats for the front passengers. But when it comes to XLE models and above, things get better for the passengers. The passenger seats in the higher trims will be immensely updated and will provide additional comfort for the people who will be driven in this car.
engine
The heart of the vehicle has always been the engine, and the Toyota Highlander has three engines. This line could get longer if Toyota manages to make a revolution with its new battery. The basic version should have a 2.7-liter I4 engine with 185 hp; the second, more advanced, with 3.5-liter V6 engine and 295 hp, tamed with 8-speed automatic; and the last with 3.5-liter hybrid, which already has better fuel economy, ranging between 28 and 29 mpg in city traffic.
Update: It has finally been revealed what powertrain the Toyota Highlander Hybrid version will come with. Under the hood is the V-6 engine, which is said to be matched with two electric motors and a 45 kW nickel-metal hydride battery. It will come with all-wheel drive and will likely produce 306 hp combined. Not bad for this car. It has also been confirmed that the EPA ratings for this type of setup with the all-wheel drive will be 20 mpg city, 26 highway, 22 combined, or 21/27/23 mpg.
Toyota Highlander Top Grade Safety
The Toyota Highlander model can really boast of new safety specifications. It is still something we have seen before, but after the latest package, the model jumps to the top position in the segment. With it, we can use the Toyota Safety Sense-P package, which includes all the necessary parts that a safe car needs. It adds forward collision warnings with full-speed automatic emergency braking, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and active lane control.
Summary
The Toyota Highlander is a mid-size SUV that will be the next to implement hybrid versions into its standard core lineup. Information about it is very scarce, but you can expect it to be more expensive than the current models due to the development price and improved interior.
There will be three engine versions, including (at least) one hybrid. If newer information appears, we will update you.
