New Porsche Macan 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The new Porsche Macan can take on sport sedans on a race track and carry a reasonable shopping cart full of groceries home from Costco. With a trio of turbocharged engines, the lineup culminates in the performance-oriented GTS model with a 434-hp twin-turbo V-6. But no matter which engine you choose, the Macan’s chassis is an athletic partner that encourages you to hit peak after peak.

New Porsche Macan

All models come standard with all-wheel drive, and those looking to improve the crossover’s handling can do so via several options, including summer tires, an adaptive suspension, a torque-vectoring differential and tungsten carbide-coated rotors. Yes, it’s an SUV, but it’s also very much a Porsche.

What’s new ?

Porsche updated the Macan’s front and rear bumpers and added new wheel designs to the order sheet. The interior features a revised center console, steering wheel and shifter. The base turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder now makes 261 horsepower, and the Macan S inherits the 375-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 from last year’s GTS. Porsche dropped the Turbo from the list but carried over its 434-hp V-6 to the GTS.
Given the Macan’s athletic nature, we’d skip the base model and go straight to the V-6-powered S, which brings a significant power boost. Standard features include a 10.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-speaker audio system and LED headlights. We’d also splurge a little for the Premium package, which includes heated front and rear seats, adaptive headlights, and an upgraded 14-speaker audio system. The Sport Chrono package also has our attention for its driver-adjustable drive modes and launch control feature.

Engine, transmission and performance

We’ve yet to hook up a VBox data logger to a model, but we did test a GTS when it was powered by the 375-hp twin-turbo 2.9-liter V-6 that’s now in the S, and it jumped to 60 mph in just 3.9 seconds. That’s significantly faster than the times of the Audi SQ5 and Jaguar F-Pace S. An SUV probably doesn’t need to roll off the line that quickly, but we appreciate it. The GTS model carries over the 434-hp twin-turbo V-6 from the mighty (discontinued) Macan Turbo – a model that managed a 3.5-second 60 mph time. We expect the new GTS to deliver similar performance. Quickness is important in a crossover with sporty intentions, but we wouldn’t be nearly as impressed with the Macan if it didn’t have its all-around prowess on the road. It feels remarkably like a sport sedan. The ride is wonderfully smooth and carefully controlled, and it’s rare for a jolt from the pavement to be felt by the driver. The steering is a little lighter than Porsche’s sports cars, but still super precise and pleasantly tactile.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

The New Porsche Macan’s EPA ratings haven’t been released yet, but last year’s model earned estimates very similar to its competitors. On our 75-mph real-world highway fuel economy loop, the Macan S averaged 26 mpg, improving its highway number by 3 mpg. For more information on the Macan’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Interior, comfort and cargo

The Macan’s standard interior is a disappointment in a crossover of this price and provenance, and it’s expensive to outfit one to match the Porsche crest. There’s also less room for rear passengers in the Macan than in most rivals. The power seats for the driver and front passenger are comfortable, but they’re the only standard interior that feels luxurious. You could have the entire interior draped in leather, which would partially solve the problem, but Porsche – living up to its budget-conscious reputation – requires an extra $2230 just to cover the dashboard and doors in cowhide. A paltry cargo area and small interior storage compartments make the Macan one of the most impractical vehicles in the segment. But when has buying a Porsche ever been a rational decision? We stow six carry-on bags behind the bench seat and 16 with the rear seats folded down, which should be enough for most people.

Infotainment and connectivity

Porsche’s infotainment system is available with all sorts of high-tech features, but they’ll cost you. USB ports and 12-volt outlets are scattered throughout the cabin so everyone can keep their devices fully charged. A Wi-Fi hotspot and Apple CarPlay are standard, but no Macan offers Android Auto.

Safety and driver assistance functions

The Macan is available with a wide range of driver-assist technologies, but almost none of them come standard. For more information on the Macan’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Standard lane departure warning
  • Available automatic emergency braking
  • Available adaptive cruise control

Warranty and maintenance coverage

Porsche’s warranty coverage is good, but not great. The F-Pace and Cadillac XT5 offer better coverage in certain areas.
