New Audi A3 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The well-regarded current production New Audi A3 sedan will soon be replaced by an all-new model – the company is skipping the model year. From what we can tell so far, the new A3 will be a significant improvement over an already delightful and upscale sedan.
New Audi A3
German rivals like the BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe and Mercedes ML-Class are whet consumers’ appetites for small premium sedans, so it’s no surprise that Audi is doubling down on its compact car, giving it a richer interior, advanced technology, and crisp looks. A turbocharged four-cylinder engine, all-wheel drive, and a host of driver-assist features make the A3 a desirable choice. We expect the A3 to hit North America by the end of as a model.
What’s new ?
Audi’s entry-level car is all-new , with sharper styling and a modernized interior. The A3 will be sold exclusively as a sedan in North America, while the hatchback Sportback model will be sold in Europe and other global markets.
The A3 will be offered in Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige trims like other Audis currently on sale. Audi hasn’t released a full list of standard and optional features on the A3, but we expect the midsize Premium Plus model to offer the best mix of features and price.
Engine, transmission and performance
Although European models offer a variety of powertrains, the A3 destined for North America is powered by a 201-hp 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and is available with either front- or all-wheel drive. A seven-speed automatic is also expected to be standard. Audi has mentioned a plug-in hybrid model, likely called the e-tron, that may be available later. We haven’t tested the new A3 yet, but expect civilized driving, crisp handling and satisfying acceleration.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The EPA hasn’t released any information on the A3’s fuel economy estimates, but to compete with its arch rivals – the A-Class sedan and 2 Series Gran Coupe – fuel economy will need to climb to as high as 35 mpg on the highway. When we get a chance to put the new A3 through our 200-mile highway fuel economy test route, we’ll update this story with the results. For more information on the A3’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
Interior, comfort and cargo
Inside the Audi A3, Audi designers have taken the simpler styling of the larger A4 sedan and opted for more personality. Two large air vents flank the car’s instrument display and a stitched trim line the top of the dashboard. The front seats shown in the photos are likely optional sport seats, but they appear to have faux suede upholstery and quilted seating surfaces. Cargo space isn’t usually particularly generous for small cars, but we expect the A3’s trunk to have enough room for an average grocery store or weekend luggage for road trips.
Infotainment and connectivity
The A3 will feature either a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen or a larger, optional 12.3-inch unit. Thankfully, the A3 forgoes the brand’s new dual-screen setup that makes the car’s climate control and drive mode switches a digital affair. Instead, those secondary controls are managed by good old-fashioned buttons here. Also standard will be Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument display. A popular feature across the rest of the Audi lineup, this reconfigurable screen can display a large map in the center of the instrument cluster as well as other vehicle information along with standard readouts for speed and revs.
Safety and driver assistance functions
Driver assistance technology is heavily featured in the new A3, with basics like automated emergency braking coming standard and more advanced tech available with option packages. For more information on the A3’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard
- Available lane departure warning with lane keeping assist
- Available adaptive cruise control
Warranty and maintenance coverage
Audi’s standard warranty package is nothing special, and both the limited and powertrain warranties are on par with those offered by BMW and Mercedes-Benz . Competitors like the Cadillac CT4 offer more value here with longer powertrain coverage; the BMW 2 Series offers three years or 36,000 miles of free scheduled maintenance.
