New Audi S3 2025: Compact Luxury Sedan with 306 HP and Advanced Technology

Even in the SUV era, the entry-level luxury compact sedan segment still has juice, and Audi is delivering a performance-focused challenger with the new Audi S3. A hot-rodded version of the new A3 sedan, the S3 will go head-to-head with the aggressive BMW M235i Gran Coupe, Cadillac CT4 -V and Mercedes-AMG GT R when it hits the market.

New Audi S3

This pint-sized sports sedan certainly looks the part, and since we’re impressed with the current-generation model, we’re excited to get behind the wheel of this new one. The cabin is shared with the all-new A3, which takes styling and technology from Audi’s larger sedans – the A4 and A6 – but everything about the S3 feels more youthful. The S3 will likely follow the A3 to U.S. dealerships in a few months, so we expect it to arrive by the end of .

What’s new ?

The new Audi S3 is all-new and is based on the similarly fresh A3 sedan. Although both cars are powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder, the S3’s engine produces a hefty 306 horsepower and sends its power through a standard all-wheel drive system. In addition to more power, the S3 also gets a lowered, more aggressively tuned suspension, grippier sports seats, a special grille and four exhaust tips.

Audi hasn’t released a full list of features and options for the Audi S3, but we do know it will follow the brand’s three-trim layout, starting with the base Premium, then the mid-range Premium Plus, and finally the top-of-the-line Prestige trim. Without a full list of features, it’s difficult to know which represents the best value, but our experience with Audi’s current crop suggests the mid-range Premium Plus is likely to satisfy the broadest range of buyers.

Engine, transmission and performance

All new Audi S3 models will come with a 306-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and Audi’s Quattro all-wheel drive system. This setup is similar to the last-generation S3, which shot to 62 mph in just 4.6 seconds on our test track. Thanks to 18 more horsepower than the previous S3, we expect the model to be at least as quick, if not faster, but we won’t be able to test the new one until closer to its on-sale date.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG

Because it’s a new model, the EPA hasn’t yet released fuel economy estimates for the New Audi S3. We expect the S3 to offer similar fuel economy ratings to its main competitors, the A35 and M235i Gran Coupe. When we get a chance to test the S3’s highway fuel economy on our 200-mile test route, we’ll update this story with the results. For more information on the S3’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.

Interior, comfort and cargo

The S3’s cabin is almost identical to that of the new A3, but adds some racier styling elements like sport seats with quilted leather inserts and a flat-bottomed steering wheel. From the photos, we can see that the S3 will also get the same toggle switch as the A3. We’ve yet to see each car in person, so we can’t comment on passenger space or cargo capacity, but the S3 is a compact sedan, so we’re not expecting any sedan-like tweaks.

Infotainment and connectivity

While the A3 comes standard with a 10.1- or 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, we expect the more expensive S3 to offer the larger display as standard. Also likely standard is Audi’s Virtual Cockpit digital instrument cluster, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and in-dash navigation. Audi hasn’t released full details on the S3’s standard and optional features yet, so we’ll update this story with more information closer to the car’s on-sale date.

Safety and driver assistance functions

Like most Audis, the S3 will come standard with several driver-assist features; more advanced technology remains optional. For more information on the S3’s crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:

  • Automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection as standard
  • Available lane departure warning with lane keeping assist
  • Available adaptive cruise control

Warranty and maintenance coverage

The new S3 comes with the same standard warranty as the rest of the Audi lineup, which includes coverage of the car’s powertrain and a bumper-to-bumper policy that covers four years or 50,000 miles. Audi also covers the first dealer servicing for new car buyers – a nice perk – but the M235i Gran Coupe comes standard with a three-year complimentary maintenance plan.

Price Audi S3

On the European market, the Audi S3 Sportback is offered at a price of 45,000 euros. The standard equipment of the “charged” premium hatchback includes: seven airbags, a virtual instrument cluster with a 12.3-inch screen, full LED optics, dual-zone climate control, a media center with a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a keyless entry and engine start system, combined seat upholstery, 18-inch wheels, ABS, ESP, rear view camera, parking and many other modern options.
