New BMW M4 2025: Improvements, New Technologies and Release Anticipation

We are preparing for the release of the BMW M4, which will see some improvements over the original version. The M4 model has not seen any real innovations since 2012, when the car changed its name to M4.

It will now bring improvements such as improved LED headlights and 3D LED taillights, but will also add some equipment such as an updated navigation system that is offered as standard on this model. In addition, we have a mild performance upgrade that sees the power rise to 431 hp, an increase of 7 hp over the last model.

BMW decided to separate its sedan and coupe models in the 3 Series brand, and to do so established the coupe models under the M4 name. The introduction of these cars began in 2012 and it was the first time an M4 model was made. But they have kept it mostly the same since then, so a refresh was bound to appear sooner or later.

However, since BMW is not known for extravagant updates, they decided to keep the design mild. The exterior does not change drastically and it looks mostly the same. The release date of the car will be different in the European and domestic markets, but we expect the model to be good in both cases. The pictures have already teased us enough, so it was time for a real review.

Release date

The newly announced BMW M4 model will hit the scene soon enough. In fact, we expect the model to arrive in Germany as early as mid-year, which also means it will be offered in respective markets across Europe. The M4 is expected to cross the pond and be available in Europe next year, around the first quarter of , so it will be labeled as a model.

What is the price of the car?

The BMW M4 model has not yet been officially priced in Europe. The model has already brought the figures related to the German market, which will start sales at 57,817 GBP. But the US model will probably be offered for around 67,000 € (Euro), which represents a possible increase of 800 € (Euro) over the previous model and 75,700 € (Euro) for the convertible version.

What are the external updates?

If you were hoping for a major update for the exterior of the BMW M4, you will be largely disappointed. It seems that the designers were extremely lazy in overhauling this vehicle as they kept most of the styling the same. The leftover parts include the same front and rear fascias, hood, and side profile.

The kidney grille also remains unchanged, with the black vertical louvres remaining. However, the only new feature is the addition of LED headlights as standard, with hexagonal LED strips available as an option. The rear only manages to change the layout of the taillights, with LEDs being standard for the model.

The additions made for the convertible option are black painted trim elements visible for various parts of the vehicle’s exterior, including the front grille trim, fender vent logo, window trim and rear M4 logo.

Interior changes

The interior of the BMW M4 does not change that much and follows the same formula as the exterior. In fact, most of the interior has been preserved with only a few material and technological updates. The only stylistic change is the addition of illuminated M4 logos on the seatbacks. There are some elements on the dashboard that are now in chrome or electroplated, so they have a sort of blackish styling.

The dashboard has the same contrast stitching as the rest of the interior upholstery. The technological updates will come with the new operating system that is also used on the 5 Series models. It comes with a multi-layout that is much easier to use. The car will also include some other standard features such as BMW’s ConnectedDrive services, which have an enhanced Bluetooth phone connection, a Wi-Fi hotspot and inductive charging.

Drivetrain setup

The setup for the BMW M4 has been tweaked in a very interesting way. When the 3 Series model was split in two, the changes in emissions standards and fuel economy had to be adapted to the resulting changes. This means that the V-8 engine was unsuitable for this version of the car, and that’s how we got to the turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six option. The engine makes extensive use of M TwinPower Turbo technology and also uses Valvetronic and Double VANOS valve timing for camshafts and valves. This all results in an output of 431 horsepower between 5,500 and 7,300 rpm and 406 pound-feet between 1,850 and 5,500 rpm. The transmission selection is also carried over and we can choose between a seven-speed, M dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual.

0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed

The model will get excellent acceleration ability and the BMW M4 will perhaps be one of the better models when it comes to speed. The model can archive 0 to 100 km per hour in 4.1 seconds with the manual gear lever, while with an M-DCT it takes 3.9 seconds. The top speed will be 155 mph.

Improved fuel consumption

The newly improved BMW M4 will actually come with better fuel economy specs. This is an interesting proposition for this version of the car and we expect the newly used lightweight materials will also result in much better fuel economy. Currently, estimates suggest that a combined effort of 32 mpg will probably be possible.

The dimensions of the car

With the tiny changes on the exterior, the dimensions of the BMW M4 have not changed either. When we found out that the exterior design of the car has not changed that much, we immediately noticed that the size remains the same. This is supported by the facts that say that the car is still 184.5 inches long, has a wheelbase of 110.7 inches, a height of 54.4 inches and a width of 73.6 inches.

Security features

Crash data for the BMW M4 isn’t available yet, and we’ll probably have to wait a bit to get it. But we do know some of the standard equipment we’ll get here. That includes eight airbags, automatic crash notification, BMW Assist emergency communications, and stolen vehicle recovery assistance. Optional is the Driver Assistance Plus package, which includes camera- and radar-based blind-spot monitoring, lane departure alert, side and top-view cameras, forward collision warning, pedestrian protection, and high- and low-speed automatic braking.

Competing vehicles

The arrival of the BMW M4 will not shake up the market as much as one would expect. In fact, the comparison also offers stable and quite useful offers. The model will probably have to compete with its competitors when it comes to increasing sales. Other vehicles in the segment are Audi RS5 and Cadillac CT4-V .
