New Chevrolet Equinox 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
I don’t like muscle cars or SUVs just because of how thirsty they are. I’ve become a new man in the last few years. A large majority of my friends think I’m crazy and don’t know anything. They like their car to be loud.
Chevrolet Camaro
They want something v8 or v12. They want to hear their engines roar. I’m not saying anything against the sound, but I like my cars to be environmentally friendly. That’s the only thing I have against these “more powerful” cars. But this time I don’t stand behind my words and I can say that I really like the new Chevrolet Equinox .
Equinox was introduced in 2010 and updated in 2016. We thought there was some truth behind all the rumors, but we didn’t expect anything like this. The vehicle was actually available during the Detroit Auto Show. Anyone could walk in and try it. Every single opinion was the same. Very spacious, stylish and (if the information is correct) it’s very cheap to drive.
Release date and price
The exact 100% sure release date is nowhere to be found. You can go to the official website and create your own setup and order the vehicle, but there are no official dates. The only general information is that it will be available to us mere mortals in the summer of .
The base price for the vehicle is €23,580 (Euros), and for that price you can get a lot. The average fuel efficiency will be 40 MPG. This number only applies to the 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine. We will cover that side of the story later in the text.
What has changed?
The new Chevrolet Equinox is a complete redesign of the vehicle and that is simply noticeable as soon as you take a look at the vehicle. The entire exterior can perhaps only be recognized by the insignia that this SUV proudly wears up front. While we are there, we definitely can’t neglect the front fascia and a huge grille. Beautiful design that lives in symbiosis with menacing LED daytime running lights. The entire hood has also been redesigned and just like one blogger wrote a few weeks ago, “It looks like Chevy has been going to the gym lately.” Seriously, the hood is now more muscular and although it is still very short, it looks taller. I don’t know. Maybe this is just something like a beefed up Hobbit.
The same philosophy goes around the car with the subtle edge, goes all over the vehicle and stops at really cool taillights. Now placed vertically, split by the hood, they now look more exotic and not just boring like the previous versions. The whole body is somehow better sculpted, and it now looks like an elegant sculpture with a curve here, a bump there and off you go. You have the best version of the Chevy Equinox ever made.
The next detail that should be of interest to everyone in this car’s diet. It has miraculously lost over 400 pounds, which again brings us to another reason: this car is so fuel efficient.
Look at the inside
The entire interior of the Chevrolet Equinox has been designed to please customers. There are countless safety measures for you as an adult and your children. Teenagers to be exact.
Trim levels are L, LS, LT and Premiere. You can choose between the FWD and AWD version. While the AWD proves to be better at only €4,000 (Euros) to differentiate them. The AWD is the smart version of the “Mountain Crawler” where it automatically turns off when the computer doesn’t see it as a necessity. So you save fuel and still have the goods to take your family and friends through the treacherous trails over the hills and mountains. Or you can just go solo because you’re an adventurer.
As we could find, all trim levels of the Chevrolet Equinox have a central infotainment screen and only the Premier trim levels have leather seats with driver memory. Every trim level has an optional collision alarm that triggers the “not so subtle” vibration underneath you. Maybe the audio warning you could see in the previous version had some errors or you could not react in time. Other options range from smart high beam to teen control. This teen control is a very interesting option and exists as a spy for you. It activates some additional safety options like side blind zone alert, forward collision alert and automatic forward braking at low speed. The computer remembers every single problem your “young hope” had while driving. Basically, it highlights all the details like distance, speed, overspeed, collision alerts, etc.
The rest of the safety measures are nothing special for a modern vehicle. Things like automatic low-speed forward braking, lane departure warning, and forward collision alert are the things taken from semi-autonomous vehicles.
Available exterior colors Chevrolet Equinox are Nightfall Gray Metallic, Silver Ice Metallic and Summit White. Premium color that costs approximately $400 is Orange Burst Metallic. The only interior color is Medium Ash Gray.
Green engine
The Chevrolet Equinox will have three engine options: the 1.6-liter turbodiesel engine, the 1.5-liter turbo engine, and the 2.0-liter turbo engine.
The first will be the best. Combined with all the previously mentioned attributes like lighter weight and switchable 4WD, you’ll get 40 MPG on a highway. Estimated fuel economy for the 1.5L is 31 MPG while we don’t have numbers for the 2.0L. But there’s something special about the 2.0 and that’s the lightness you can feel when you try to tow something. Heck, you can even try to tow the Titanic with the Tow/Haul switch right below the gear lever. If you’re to believe everything a company tells you to sell you something.
Final verdict
The Chevrolet Equinox is a well-designed monster. It would be a smart decision if you are trying to find the perfect SUV for you. It is certainly one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs you can find and it is well priced. There are some exceptional safety technologies and you can open your trunk by putting your leg under the rear bumper. Isn’t that groovy?
