New Peugeot 308
In Europe, sales of new items will start in the second half of , and configuration and prices will be announced at the same time. The model is not expected to come to the Russian market.
Design
To characterize the body design of the new Peugeot 308, the French use the epithets “sensual” and “sharp”. To justify these words, the car features bright vertical slats of navigation lights and original taillights with three “claws”. The new logo of the brand in the form of a roaring lion’s head brings a spectacular effect to the image – the “third” Peugeot 308 was the first to try it on.
Starting with the basic versions, the model will be equipped only with LED optics, while the GT and GT Premium versions will be equipped with more advanced matrix LED headlights. The external body panels of the new five-door received an optimal shape from an aerodynamic point of view, which ultimately made it possible to reduce the drag coefficient against the airflow to 0.28.
During the modernization, “three hundred and eighths” was seriously dispersed in size. The length and width of the car increased by 114 and 48 mm, respectively (to 4367 and 1852 mm), and the wheelbase by 55 mm (to 2675 mm). Only the height has decreased – it has decreased by 13 mm (to 1444 mm). The ground clearance according to the specification is 140 mm.
Interior and equipment
The interior of the new Peugeot 308 features an improved i-Cockpit architecture. It provides for the presence of a small ergonomic steering wheel, a 10-inch digital instrument panel and a central touchscreen with the same 10-inch diagonal. In expensive trim levels, the instrument cluster is decorated with a three-dimensional effect, and a row of i-Toggles buttons appears on the console for quick access to basic functions. The media center supports control via voice commands and allows you to connect two devices simultaneously via Bluetooth. There are also USB-C ports and a compartment for wireless charging of smartphones.
The central tunnel of the versions with automatic transmission is now deprived of the usual joystick – instead, a small selector lever with a three-position toggle switch (reverse, neutral and drive) and two buttons (parking and manual) has been introduced. A little below is the drive mode selector (for hybrid, the programs Electric, Hybrid, Eco, Normal and Sport are available), on the right there are two cup holders under the curtain. The adjacent compartment for small items has a volume of up to 34 liters.
The hatchback package includes heated steering wheel and windshield, contour lighting with 8 blinds, electric front seats (10 settings) and massage, panoramic roof, all-round cameras, keyless entry. The set of electronic assistants includes adaptive cruise control (vehicles with “automatic” have a stop-and-go function), automatic braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane keeping, cross traffic warning when reversing, traffic sign recognition, blind spot monitoring »zones (range up to 75 meters).
The basic volume of the Peugeot 308’s trunk has fallen from 420 to 412 liters since the generation change, but the maximum capacity has increased from 1228 to 1323 liters. The underground cargo area can hold an additional 28 liters of luggage.
Specifications
The updated hatchback is based on the modified EMP2 platform, which allows you to create hybrids and electric cars. Purely electric versions do not exist yet, but there are two hybrids that can be charged from the mains. The first – Hybrid 180 e-EAT8 – combines a PureTech 1.6 petrol engine (150 hp, 250 Nm) and an electric motor (110 hp, 320 Nm). The total thrust is 180 hp. and 360 Nm. The second modification of the Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 is set in motion by a tandem of a 1.6-liter internal combustion engine with 180 hp. (torque 250 Nm) and the same 110 hp electric motor. The power here is 225 hp. and 360 Nm.
Both hybrids have electric motors installed in the “automatic” transmission, the lithium-ion battery has a capacity of 12.4 kW*h. With the engine off, the Hybrid 180 e-EAT8 version can travel 60 km, the Hybrid 225 e-EAT8 – 59 km (according to the WLTP cycle). Charging the battery from an 8 A household socket takes 7 hours 5 minutes, from a 16 A socket – 3 hours 50 minutes (with a 3.7 kW charger). Wallbox Wallbox (32 A, 7.4 kW) ensures replenishment of the battery capacity in 1 hour 55 minutes.
In addition to hybrids in the Peugeot 308 family there will be classic modifications. They will receive petrol “turbo-triples” 1.2 Puretech (110 or 130 hp) and a four-cylinder diesel 1.5 BlueHDi (130 hp). The “younger” 110-horsepower version relies only on a 6-speed manual transmission, in the 130-horsepower versions it is possible to choose between the “mechanics” and the “automatic” EAT8.
