New Toyota 4Runner 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
Despite its age, the current generation of Toyota’s famous SUV still has pretty impressive sales figures. The current market simply lacks true BoF SUVs, so it’s no wonder that many buyers opt for this model, which has been around since 2009.
New Toyota 4Runner
This also clearly shows that the Japanese manufacturer will not rush into changes. The company is currently busy with the new Tundra and Land Cruiser when it comes to the BoF department. So the new Toyota 4Runner will continue in the same way.
So you can count on a vehicle that, despite its age, still has some good things to offer. Of course, the first thing that comes to mind is the behavior of this SUV on the road, where it is still one of the main players on the market. You can also count on excellent reliability ratings, as well as a spacious and practical cabin. On the other hand, the model seems dated in some aspects, especially in terms of interior design, while fuel consumption is low for the class. We expect to see the New Toyota 4Runner sometime in the last quarter of .
Redesign
In terms of basic design features, this model hasn’t changed too much over the past decade. We saw a redesign six years ago, but even that refresh was fairly mild. After that, only annual updates came. So it’s no surprise that the new Toyota 4Runner carries on a familiar design. This means a layout that offers a robust body-on-frame platform and suspension that combines rigidity with some relatively advanced design solutions, including multi-ling at the rear.
Of course, the 4Runner is available with all sorts of upgrades, including the excellent TRD Pro model, which offers higher ground clearance, as well as various other upgrades such as skid plates, FOX shock absorbers, TRD front springs, a TRD Pro-specific roof rack, a retro TOYOTA grille.
Inner
Inside, things haven’t changed in a long time, so it’s no wonder many consider this cabin outdated. The dashboard is simply more functional than good-looking, using mostly hard plastic, while the aesthetics are typical of models from 10-15 years ago. Still, the company has updated this cabin with all sorts of new tech features, but we’ll get to that in a moment.
When it comes to interior space, it’s a three-row SUV. However, to keep off-road performance at a high level, Toyota has kept the wheelbase relatively short for the segment, under 110 inches. This makes the third row really tight, while the cargo area behind the third row is quite small. However, if you’re primarily using just two rows, the amount of passenger and cargo space is more than decent.
Characteristics
We may see a few innovations in this aspect, but most things will remain the same. So base models will certainly come standard with things like an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, an eight-speaker stereo, satellite radio, Bluetooth, four USB ports, Wi-Fi hotspot, keyless entry, power liftgate, and a 120V outlet. The options list currently includes things like dual-zone automatic climate control, proximity keyless entry, a power sunroof, a rear sunshade, navigation, a premium audio system, and more. We expect some of these could become standard next year.
In terms of safety, the current model is already fully loaded and we don’t expect any major changes in the future. Current standard equipment includes a rearview camera, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning and automatic high beams.
Motor
Things under the hood will definitely not change for the New Toyota 4Runner . It continues with a familiar 4.0-liter V6. It produces around 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque and comes in combination with a 5-speed automatic transmission. Thanks to the large displacement, there is plenty of low-end torque, while overall driving dynamics are pretty good.
This engine is powerful and reliable, while the main downside is fuel economy. You can expect only 16 mpg in the city and 19 mpg on the highway. That’s pretty low by today’s standards.
Release date and price
We expect a new Toyota 4Runner sometime in the last quarter of the year with a starting price of around €37,000 (Euro). The main competitors will of course be the 4-door versions of the Jeep Wrangler and the new Ford Bronco Hybrid .
