Nissan Frontier SUV 2025: price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The all-new Nissan Frontier SUV is next for the complete redesign and will be released in a year or two. The work has already started and Europeans will have to be patient. Do you realize that Nissan Navara is the long-awaited updated version of Nissan Frontier? It is not for the American market, so everyone will have to keep calm and wait for it.

Since the release is over a year away, we don’t have the official specs or some spy photos, but we do have the facts. Nissan Frontier hasn’t been updated since 2004. The exterior, interior and engines are outdated and not for this time.
Release date and price
The Nissan Frontier release date is scheduled for late 2017 and early . Price is another side of the same coin. The price of the Nissan Frontier, like any individual vehicle, will shift from trim to trim. That’s natural.
Nissan will follow the previous and current tradition of trim levels, which means you can expect the Nissan Frontier King Cab in S and SV trim levels. Nissan Frontier Double Cab in S, SV and SL trim levels, and in various combinations of trim levels and engine options. That means you’ll have to choose between SV and SL in four-cylinder and V6 variants.
The Nissan Frontier King Cab in the basic trim levels costs at least €19,800 (Euro), while you have to spend another €10,000 (Euro) more for the Double Cab.
Design
Only guidelines we need to create a picture in our minds about the exterior of Nissan Frontier are the design of facelifted version of Nissan Navara and Nissan Titan . We need to find a middle ground to be objective in this matter.
Changes will come in the details like the rear-opening suicide doors behind the main doors when it comes to the King Cab. The larger Double Cab will only have those four, more traditional doors, which will provide much easier access to the cabin.
In the front area, there are some additional chrome elements between the air intakes like the grille and the lower panel. We don’t expect them to implement that menacing front shield like on the Titan, but it would be cool. It would add a military look.
The side steps are always a good idea as an option. They have a wider range of styles to choose from. Far back, the Nissan Frontier will have a backup camera with pre-collision capability. We expect the cargo bed technology to be improved with in-bed cargo trays, LED lights and taillights, bed extenders, tool boxes and bed dividers.
Inner
The interior of the Nissan Frontier will be copied from the Navara. Not everything will be the same, the dimensions of everything should be properly proportioned as this is a much larger car. Expect a larger instrument cluster, larger buttons and the most important thing – a larger touchscreen.
It comes with standard front bucket seats and a rear small child seat that folds from the back. The Nissan Frontier Double Cab will have more space in the back and will be much more comfortable with more legroom.
The upper trims will have a 360-degree camera view and all trims will come standard with a rearview camera. Blind spot monitoring, automatic braking, lane departure warning and all other sensors will be an option.
engine
A very short list of engines will have to be changed for the Nissan Frontier engine lineup. The old 2.5- and 4-liter dinosaurs are going into the past where they belong. They will be replaced by the new 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4 with direct injection and DOHC. That’s the base version, the upper trims will have a 3.5-liter V6, which would be a much better option to provide more than 290 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque.
Other rumors say that the US market will have two versions of diesel engines. A 2.3-liter twin-turbo diesel with 210 hp and 360 lb-ft of torque and a Cummins 5.0-liter V8 turbodiesel. The second has an output of 310 hp and 555 lb-ft of torque, which will be more than enough for American tastes.
Towing capacity is not certain but will be somewhere in the neighborhood of 5500 pounds. They need to do some additional testing but that is what is planned for the future.
Summary
Nissan Frontier is one of the most neglected models in Nissan’s history. The design is so old that it can be freely called “vintage”. There have been some updates, but nothing revolutionary. The designers were busy with NissanTitan, so they had no time for “little things” like the new Frontier. And finally, the time has come for the new Nissan Frontier. Completely redesigned interior, exterior and powertrain will put this vehicle at the top of the food chain… at least it will be more recognizable and far more beautiful.
