New body

The old platform did not prevent Pathfinder from acquiring a completely different appearance. After the last X-Trail, its older “brother” received more angular shapes and more muscular surfaces, which enhanced the brutality of the car. At the same time, the proprietary V-shaped configuration of the grille was retained, but it itself grew significantly, which fits perfectly into the new design concept. Changed headlights with thin upper sections of the running lights are now LED by default.

The rear of the crossover has changed no less than the front. There are new narrow lights, another tailgate with a large “Pathfinder” lettering in dark chrome, a redesigned bumper with a cutout for the license plate. The C-pillars create a floating effect and also allow for a two-tone body paint finish (a first in Pathfinder’s history). A total of 14 color schemes have been developed, including five new combinations with a contrasting roof.

The dimensions of the model have changed slightly. The length has decreased from 5042 to 5004 mm, while the width and height have increased slightly (to 1979 and 1778 mm, respectively). The wheelbase remains the same – 2900 mm. 18-inch wheels are standard on the new models, and 20-inch wheels are available on older versions.

Interior and equipment

The interior of the crossover has been significantly redesigned. The front panel received a different configuration, the central tunnel became two-level – with an impressive lower compartment. In expensive trim levels, the new Pathfinder has advanced electronic equipment. There is a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 9-inch multimedia screen and a 10.8-inch head-up display. The simpler versions rely on a 7-inch tidy and an 8-inch media center screen. For infotainment systems, support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto protocols is declared, and wireless Apple CarPlay is offered as an option.

The vehicle’s equipment list also includes three-zone climate control, ventilation of the front seats and heated rear seats, electric driver’s seat with 10 settings, Nissan door-to-door navigation, wireless smartphone charging, contoured interior lighting, Bose Premium Audio acoustics with 13-year-old speakers, high-resolution all-round cameras. The manufacturer notes the improvement in the quality of sound insulation and the finishing materials used. In addition to the basic material, artificial and natural leather are used for the upholstery.

Among other things, the new Pathfinder received the latest version of the Nissan Safety Shield 360 safety complex. It includes automatic braking with pedestrian detection, cross-traffic tracking, lane keeping, monitoring of “blind” zones, automatic switching of headlights. The icing on the cake is a ProPilot assistant that can drive independently not only on empty highways, but also on busy roads. Passive safety is provided by ten airbags, including the middle one between the front seats.

The rear part of the crossover’s cabin has received a new layout. The third row is now three-seater, so the maximum car can carry eight people. If desired, you can order separate seats in the second row, which reduces the maximum number of passengers to seven. The EZ FLEX mechanism allows movement to free the passage to the gallery from both the driver’s and passenger’s sides. The rear seat backrests fold in a 40:60 ratio, which increases the cargo compartment volume from 470 liters of base volume to 1,274 liters (SAE standard).

Nissan Pathfinder Specifications

The Pathfinder’s engine remains the same – it is a V6 3.5 unit with 288 hp and 351 Nm. However, the transmission is different: instead of the variator, a classic 9-speed “automatic” with a joystick without mechanical connection is installed. Choice of front-wheel drive or full intelligent 4WD drive. Independent suspension – MacPherson struts at the front and multi-link at the rear. The Terrain Mode Selector offers seven driving modes: Standard, Sport, Eco, Snow, Sand, Mud/Rut and Tow. The last preset increases comfort when towing a trailer, the weight of which should not exceed 2720 kg.
