review
The vehicle is expected to retain its distinctive elegance, complemented by a sporty touch. At the same time, the Insignia will be larger as it moves to the modernized modular EMP2 platform.
The sedan is promised a more sloping roofline and a completely redesigned front end that corresponds to the current Vizor style. In particular, the radiator grille is integrated into the curved LED headlights. In addition, the lower air intake received a mesh pattern and the side air ducts were narrower in the presented trim.
Specifications
While the STLA Medium is also available, the Opel Insignia EV will reportedly ride on the STLA Large platform that Stellantis is developing for D- and E-segment passenger cars. Most STLA large-platform electric vehicles could feature electric powertrains with outputs of 150 to 330 kW (201 to 442 hp), but some models could get range-focused units with 125 to 180 kW (168 to 241 hp).
Large-platform STLA electric vehicles will have battery packs with 101-118 kWh of installed capacity. The usable capacity will likely be slightly less, but enough to provide a range of up to 800 km or 497 miles (company target). It will likely be the low and light cars that come closest to the maximum range target, rather than the crossovers/SUVs. The Insignia EV could come in a standard-range variant that offers around 250 miles on a full charge and a long-range variant that offers a range of around 400 miles. Also, the next-generation Opel Insignia will be available in two plug-in hybrid variants: a 2WD variant with 225 PS (222 hp) and an AWD variant with up to 360 PS (355 hp), according to the German report.
