Since it is a test mule, some parts are arranged only cosmetically and in an incomplete form. Other parts are taken from similar Porsche models, but there are visible lines for the shapes of the original parts. This new model will bring a combination of steel, aluminum and carbon fiber, which means a more efficient vehicle.

Release date and price

The Porsche Cayenne will be launched in the third quarter of as a model. We know that for sure based on the level of development we can see on the test mule. The price will be higher than predicted, going north of € 60,000 (Euros). But since , Porsche Cayenne has a total of fifteen different trims and models, we just have to wait for the official catalog to see everything with our own eyes.

The price range can’t be either, and we have based the base price based on our experience with the previous models, but since this model is being developed on the new shared platform, there is a possibility that the price may increase upon arrival.

Design

As for the exterior of the Porsche Cayenne, the changes will be minor except for this change in the platform. The overall shape and the sport line will remain in place to keep this vehicle unique and recognizable on the streets. The front grille is rumored to be more stylistic and aggressive, the headlights will be updated with LED technology (for daytime use) and the taillights will now be more rounded and go to the side of the vehicle. This last small detail can be seen in the spy photos below the text.

The change of platform will finally bring the Porsche Cayenne into the MLB platform family, which is actually the company’s strategy for the coming years. This modular matrix will also be used on the Audi A1 , but with the MQB platform for the cross-beam-aligned vehicle.

The MLB platform is designed to reduce production costs somewhat and is designed for vehicles with a common engine orientation, regardless of make, model or vehicle size. That means chipper parts. It’s that simple.

The style will be similar to the concept version of the Porsche Panamera Sports Turismo and the Macan SUV, which have adopted the stylistic cues of the Cayenne. The most noticeable change for Cayenne fans will be the longer roofline, thanks to the new platform.

inner space

Expect the similar interior of the Porsche Cayenne as the current model with additional infotainment screens and the “lack” of buttons. As these buttons and knobs are going out of fashion. The entire dashboard will be designed in an elegant and minimalistic way. The instrument cluster has little chance of adopting the virtual cockpit design from the Audi TT, but in this era of electric vehicles and hybrids, anything is possible. More modern design for futuristic engines.

Another improvement is related to the latest race to build the perfect semi-autonomous vehicle and make the interior look like a PC (or Mac, Android, iOS or whatever you like). The rest of the cabin has to be top-notch except for the central touch. After all, Cayenne has always been Porsche’s most luxurious model.

The seats will be sporty (this is a Porsche) but very comfortable. Drivers and passengers of all sizes and shapes will be comfortable. Upper trims will be a bit more luxurious with leather upholstery and heated and ventilated seats.

The cargo space will be larger due to the new platform, and of course you can get even more space by folding the rear seats. The only thing that will be difficult is finding space for the additional hidden spare tire compartment in the back. The problem will only bother developers of hybrid versions, because you need some space for the battery and this is the right place to put it.

engine

Since we will have fifteen models, the Porsche Cayenne engine range will be very long. The powertrain will be similar to the current offering. Everything from a naturally aspirated V6 for the base version to a turbocharged V6 for the Porsche Cayenne S, a plug-in hybrid for the Cayenne SE Hybrid and a mighty twin-turbocharged V8 for the Porsche Cayenne Turbo.

The diesel version will most likely remain in the lineup, but in limited numbers. The main problem is to avoid the accumulation of models that do not have a good chance of being bought. The diesel fans will be more cautious, as they have already been burned in the VW diesel scandal.

Porsche Cayenne Summary

Spy photos of the Porsche Cayenne say it all. We will have a new version that will look practically the same as the current model and whose prices have not been confirmed yet. The official Porsche website does not provide any data on this matter, but we can draw some ideas from the previous models. These prices and dates are all based on the fact that we have already received the test version without camouflage, which in turn means that the release date is coming very quickly. Another thing is the new platform and the use of new materials to bring this vehicle into the neighborhood of “economy vehicles”. All these details made us think that the price will be north of the current price. It will be a better vehicle than its older brother, but it will not be anything revolutionary.
