Big things are happening in today’s automotive industry and the fact is that everything is changing pretty quickly. Therefore, car manufacturers are pretty fast when it comes to electrification and premium and sports car manufacturers are no exception. That’s why Porsche is preparing a fully electric version of its compact SUV for the near future.

Porsche Macan EV

The latest reports suggest that it will arrive in about two years as the Porsche Macan EV. It looks like conventional versions won’t stay in production for too long and that Porsche is moving fully to electrification, at least for this model. However, the company is still keeping most of the details under wraps, so we can only rely on unofficial reports at this point.

Redesign

In terms of basic design features, the Porsche Macan EV won’t have too much in common with the current combustion-engined Macan. We’ll simply see a new model on a completely new platform. That would be the company’s new PPE platform, jointly developed by Porsche and Audi, which will shape pretty much every premium car from the VW Group going forward. One of the key features of this platform is the skateboard layout, which places the battery under the floor, leaving the interior and cargo area uncompromised. Of course, Porsche will offer a powerful 800-volt fast charger, making everything even more convenient.

Of course, this will be a complete redesign, so we will also see a new aesthetic. We have no doubt that the German manufacturer will be quite conservative in this regard, so the overall styling should not change too much. On the other hand, we are betting on a wealth of details that will underline the all-electric nature of the model. The same goes for the interior design, although we assume that the all-electric nature of the new crossover will certainly offer more space inside.

drive

The company is still silent on the matter. Therefore, we only know the most basic things about the Porsche Macan EV, which will feature a battery pack placed under the floor. When it comes to maximum performance, we have no doubt that the new crossover will be available in several versions. In addition, there is a great chance that Porsche will keep the current naming policy. Base models will most likely come with two-wheel drive, while higher trim levels should have electric motors on both axles. It’s still early to talk about range, but we hope that the numbers will be significantly better compared to the Audi e-Tron, which doesn’t exactly shine in this regard.

Combustion engines will remain in production until

The current Macan generation is nearing the end of its production cycle, but it looks like it won’t be replaced immediately with the launch of the new EV generation. It looks like this model will be around for a few more years. To be more precise, it will remain in production until . So the model will be on offer for a few years together.

Release date and price

According to the officials, the production of the Porsche Macan EV is expected to start in . Price-wise, the current model starts at around €42,000 (Euro).
