Rolls-Royce Cullinan 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
As you’d expect from an ultra-expensive SUV, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan drives with supreme composure and pampers everyone on board. A powerful and silky V-12 motivates this quarter-million-dollar people-mover with ease.
Excelsior Cullinan
Although its exterior design is almost clumsy, its distinctive hood ornament and impressive proportions ensure that the viewer knows that this is a Rolls-Royce – and that its occupants are extremely wealthy. We just wish that the interior wasn’t compromised by modern trends like digital displays, and we’d prefer that the standard rear seat was more adjustable.
What’s new ?
Rolls-Royce is making no changes to the Cullinan for the model year. It will continue to be powered by a twin-turbo V-12 with 563 horsepower (592 in the Black Badge version). An eight-speed automatic transmission will continue to handle gear changes and send power to the standard all-wheel drive system.
In the pretend scenario that we could afford a Cullinan, we’d opt for the Crystal paint, 22-inch seven-spoke wheels, gold-plated Spirit of Ecstasy hood ornament and electronic tow bar. We’d specify the Immersive Seating with Center Console option, which adds massage functionality to the rear seats and replaces the center seat with a console that doubles as a chiller with two champagne flutes and a whiskey decanter. And we wouldn’t pass up having the fabric above our heads display a fiber-optic starry sky via the Shooting Star headliner. Finally, we’d add the rear privacy glass and side curtains to make the back row a quiet hideaway.
Engine, transmission and performance
The Cullinan’s twin-turbo 6.7-liter V-12 produces 563 horsepower (592 on the Black Badge model) and is whisper quiet so it won’t disturb the VIPs in the cabin. The one we tested showed a 60 mph time of just 4.5 seconds – impressive for a vehicle weighing about three tons. All-wheel drive is standard, although we suspect buyers will never venture off the tarmac and risk damaging the paint.
The Cullinan rides on an air suspension that receives information from a road camera and automatically adjusts the vehicle’s height to compensate for bumps in the road surface. Ride comfort exceeds the standards of conventional luxury vehicles, as the Cullinan wafts along the road without transmitting anything unpleasant to those inside.
Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
The Cullinan’s V-12 powertrain is rated at 12 mpg in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. Believe it or not, those numbers aren’t the worst in the class. The V-12-powered Bentley Bentayga boasts ratings of 12 mpg city and 17 highway. We ran the Cullinan on our 75-mile highway fuel economy route, part of our extensive testing program, and it exceeded expectations, achieving 21 mpg. For more information on the Cullinan’s fuel economy, visit the EPA’s website.
Interior, comfort and cargo
The spacious cabin is lined with literal leather, lambswool carpeting, beautiful wood trim and machined aluminum accents. If you want an even higher level of luxury, Rolls-Royce will customize almost every part of the Cullinan’s already sumptuous interior with every delight imaginable.
The only warts in this otherwise decadent space are the fully digital instrument cluster, which lacks the elegance of an analog setup, and the standard rear seats, which are as inflexible as a park bench. Buyers can remedy the latter, at least, by optioning the two-seat second row with reclining and massage functions.
The exterior is classic Rolls-Royce, but the vehicle’s tailgate configuration allowed the brand to equip the cargo area with an optional viewing suite, consisting of a pair of leather-covered seats and a small table that protrudes from the floor. This is by far the most luxurious way to experience a polo match at the country estate. While this SUV is a clear break from tradition for the storied British brand, it is still an uncompromising Rolls-Royce in every way.
Infotainment and connectivity
Every Cullinan features a large touchscreen infotainment system with a redundant controller on the center console. Apple CarPlay is also included on every model. The available rear entertainment option adds a 12.0-inch screen to the back of each front seat. In addition to a Wi-Fi hotspot, the Cullinan features a bespoke 18-speaker audio system.
Safety and driver assistance functions
The Rolls-Royce of SUVs comes with a host of driver-assistance technologies, including night vision. For more information on the Cullinan crash test results, visit the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) websites. Key safety features include:
- Standard forward collision warning and automatic emergency braking
- Lane departure warning and lane keeping assist as standard
- Standard adaptive cruise control
