Subaru Ascent 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The first time we saw Ascent was a few years ago and it was Subaru’s biggest crossover ever. It is still in its first generation, so it is difficult to talk about the production cycle and updates.

However, if we look at other Subaru models, the Japanese manufacturer usually carries out a complete redesign every five years. On the other hand, major updates within the production cycle are usually reserved for the fourth year of production. The Subaru Ascent is about to enter the fourth year of production of the current, first generation. We therefore expect a mid-cycle refresh.

At this point, the details are not yet available, but we expect major changes compared to the regular annual updates. Besides new features, we could also see some tweaks in terms of styling, but keep in mind that Subaru is quite conservative in this regard. Also, we wouldn’t rule out the possibility of seeing some mechanical tweaks as well. Also, the Subaru Ascent could arrive a little earlier than usual, but definitely not before the second half of .

Redesign

As mentioned, Subaru usually comes with major updates in the fourth year of production. However, knowing the brand, we don’t expect anything major. Most things will remain the same and this especially concerns the basic design features. The Subaru Ascent will continue to ride on Subaru’s new modular platform and most of the mechanics will remain the same. Still, we won’t rule out the possibility of seeing some minor tweaks in terms of suspension, drivetrain and the like.

When it comes to styling, minor tweaks are always possible. However, we doubt the Japanese manufacturer will bring anything major than a slightly updated front fascia. Most of the styling will simply remain the same. Of course, we’re counting on things like new color options, new wheels, etc.

Inner

Major changes in the interior are also not to be expected, especially if we take into account the styling of the current cabin. Simply, this crossover has a well-built cabin full of high-quality materials and very good finishing touches. It is easily comparable to other models in the class, which has not always been the case with Subaru interiors. In this particular case, some materials proved to be quite durable and promise years of use.

Given the size of the model, it’s no surprise that the space is quite generous. The first two rows are particularly comfortable, while the third is typically narrow for the class. We also really like the seating position and the good visibility in all directions.

Cargo space is another strong point of this crossover. You can expect about 17.8 cubic feet of cargo space behind the last row, 47.5 cubic feet behind the second row, and 86.5 cubic feet behind the first row seats. These are above average numbers for the class, and there are plenty of smaller storage spaces around the cabin, making this SUV even more practical.

Characteristics

Of course, innovations are expected in this regard as well. However, keep in mind that the current model is already pretty well equipped and that’s hard to expect some significantly longer lists of standard and available equipment. The current model already comes standard with goodies like three-zone climate control, a 6.5-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, six speakers, satellite radio, Bluetooth, etc.

The possible additions to the standard equipment are of course currently on the options list. Some of the highlights are things like an 8-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, two USB ports in the third row, navigation, second-row air conditioning, keyless entry, push-button start, etc.

Motor

Changes under the hood are not expected, at least in terms of the engine. Of course, the Subaru Ascent will continue with a 2.4-liter turbo-four that makes around 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. It will come paired with a CVT transmission that does its job pretty well. Of course, the AWD layout is standard.

Performance is typical for the class, but most rivals use a V6 engine, so it’s no surprise that the Ascent’s obvious advantage is in fuel economy, even though it’s a model that comes standard with all-wheel drive. You can count on about 21 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway, better than most FWD rivals.
