This was confirmed by Juan López Frade, president of Suzuki Ibérica. Since test mules of the new generation S-Cross have not been spotted yet, there is no idea what the SUV would look like in its new avatar. Suzuki and its Indian subsidiary Maruti Suzuki are not known for making massive changes during a generational change, so we can expect the new generation S-Cross to retain its crossover silhouette. Details such as the front grille, headlights, taillights and the design of the alloy wheels may change.

Technical characteristics

The most notable upgrade will be the powertrain. Like many automakers around the world, Suzuki is looking to advance the electrification of its vehicles with the introduction of new lightweight hybrid electric vehicle (MHEV) technology, which includes a more powerful 48-volt mild-hybrid system paired with an internal combustion engine.

Two petrol engine options are offered – a 1.5-liter K15B naturally aspirated engine and a 1.4-liter Boosterjet turbo engine. The first in its current form produces 104 hp. and 138 Nm of maximum torque in combination with a 5-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission. In the new generation model, the 4-speed automatic transmission could be replaced by the 6-speed automatic transmission.

The latter produces 127 bhp at 5500 rpm and a maximum torque of 235 Nm at 2000 rpm. This unit is mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission with a torque converter. The crossover will also be offered with a Suzuki AllGrip 4×4 transmission. Contrary to previous reports, there will be no diesel engines on sale. The new generation S-Cross could arrive in India in late or .

Inner

The new S-Cross looks much more confident with a raised bonnet, large grille and a sinister look emanating from the new headlights. There’s more black trim this time around, which also adds a harder vibe to the edges of the wheel arches, giving the car an overall impression that the car is bigger than before, despite the tape measure suggesting otherwise.

But while the new SX4 S-Cross is 4,300 mm (169.3 inches) long on the outside, Suzuki promises it will feel more comfortable for passengers inside. And if your passengers aren’t impressed with the comfort inside the cabin, they might be more interested in the new 9-inch touchscreen that sits atop the center console on the more expensive Ultra models with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
