Toyota 4Runner 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

If you’re looking for an exploration vehicle, the Toyota 4Runner is the best car for you. This model will get its well-deserved refresh for the model year, and while it’s remained unchanged for a while, it still won’t be updated significantly. We can get a lot more of the old stuff here that’s still considered a functional part of the car.

Toyota 4Runner

The 4Runner also offers the usual kind of premise and design. It still has its usual kind of design that we’ve already become accustomed to. In a world full of great, city-focused SUVs that offer comfort and drivability, there’s no place for a car like the 4Runner. However, if you want a reliable four-wheel-drive vehicle, there’s no better car.

The car will be offered in a variety of trim levels for the coming year and we will get a lineup that includes the SR5, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro and Limited trim levels. The late Trail trim has been renamed TRD Off-Road for the coming year and shows us the direction the 4Runner is heading with its development. The newly released images suggest that the release date for the model is near, so we are preparing a review with the latest information about the car.

Update: Getting a new Toyota 4Runner seems to be big news for most fans. The latest model inherits the traditional design and purpose that the 4Runner has become familiar with. You can’t expect it to be any different and it’s a model that has always given us what it should be and what it was made for. We’ve received some updated information about the car that helps us determine new things and it’s coming close to the release date. The Toyota 4Runner is designed to go off-road and make the most of what it has to offer. Except for the Jeep Wrangler, it’s the best off-road model in the segment in terms of its off-road capability.

The biggest advantage of the Toyota 4Runner is not just its off-road capability. It’s the spaciousness that it proves too. The model is big and spacious and has an immense cargo. It doesn’t house many modernistic pieces, but it has the old-school charm that many true fans may be looking for. But its on-road ability is not as good as its off-road ability. Also, the refresh didn’t include as many changes on the inside, so we’re stuck with plastic inside. Plus, they’re still using the aging powertrain, which may not be as good as it is. Overall, the 4Runner may face more difficulties compared to the competition. Here are some recent refreshes that have been released since we last talked about this car.

When is the release date for the Toyota 4Runner?

We expect to see the Toyota 4Runner soon. Based on the information offered, the car will be released in early . The car will receive an upgrade and we are still getting spy photos of it, but it is clear that the redesign will not include too many changes.

Update: Last time we reported that the Toyota 4Runner will arrive in early , with the updated information about the car we see that we are not far from the truth. The model is expected to be ready for release in February . It is great news that helps us determine the future of the car much easier. This also means that we are looking for better sales numbers, which could be higher in the first months of sales.

Toyota 4Runner Price

The starting price for the Toyota 4Runner will be similar to before. You can get the car at a price of $34,210 for the base version. The TRD Offroad is available for $37,335, the Premium for $37,915, the TRD Pro for $42,200, and the Limited for $42,525. All of these prices are current MSRP ratings and we suspect they will remain in the same neighborhood for the future model.

Exterior redesign

The sturdiness and strength of the Toyota 4Runner is undeniable. This car is pretty much recognizable everywhere and shows what the brand has been about all along. Because of this, they are hesitant to change it and mostly stick to a kind of design that we were used to seeing for this model from the beginning. The version will continue on the same path and we can see from the images that they are not changing much for the car.

It stays true to its sporty tradition and keeps its wagon body from front to back. The tires are enormous and the clearance is quite high, which also makes it a muscular car. The SR5 and TRD models are quite similar and share most of their designs. However, the TRD Pro features a unique retro grille with “Toyota” written on it. The Limited models are recognizable because they add more chrome than other models.

Update: Most of the changes for the Toyota 4Runner come from the outside. They have decided to update the car and make it look at least modern. The updates also include some news on the outside and some new color palettes. We now have the Midnight Black Metallic and Super White, which were previously only available for the TRD versions, which are now available for the base version. As for the TRD, it too will get a new and exclusive color option, which is the Cavalry Blue.

There is also news on the Wilderness Package. It will include roof rack bars and also bring some minor interior improvements. The TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium models also get an exclusive choice, some matte gray 17-inch wheels with a stamped aluminum skid plate.

Interior changes

The interior of the Toyota 4Runner maintains its traditional styling but also manages to add some new details. The interior is quite upright, giving you an impressive and clear view from the windshield. The dashboard offers a blocky design, but is still very functional and has a clean layout. You’ll find the off-road controls in an overhead console that manages to keep the center stack controls separated and organized in an easy way. There’s a second display on the center stack, and the steering wheel offers additional controls for some new features of the vehicle.

Update: There’s a small piece for the Toyota 4Runner. The Wilderness package on the SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Offroad, and TRD Offroad Premium trim levels now adds all-weather floor mats and a truck bed.

Powertrain options

The latest Toyota 4Runner will keep its usual powertrain with the new model. They will not change an already good and usable premise, so we can expect a comeback of the 4.0-liter V6 engine. The engine offers an output of 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet and is combed with a 5-speed automatic transmission. The car’s towing capacity is one of its greatest assets and stands at 5,000 pounds.

0-62 mph. Acceleration capability

The Toyota 4Runner can actually boast about its acceleration speed. It will be the same as before and we can say that it has a very good offer based on the segment it occupies and the design and weight of the car. It can do 0-62 mph per hour in 7.6 seconds and still offers a top speed of 115 mph.

Fuel consumption capacity

The Toyota 4Runner doesn’t offer immense EPA ratings. The car’s off-road capability has to be paid for in some way, and the car’s fuel economy is the way to do that. It will still have an EPA rating of 17 mpg city, 22 highway, 19 combined for the rear-wheel drive versions, while the all-wheel drive models will deliver a 17/21/18 mpg. So if you plan on owning this car, you’ll have to be prepared to spend a lot on fuel for it.

Dimension rates

The Toyota 4Runner is quite large, just like the vehicle that came before it. The car can boast of some great dimensions and specs when it comes to its size. But that’s what the car is all about. Toyota has managed to offer a unique car when it comes to its capacity and off-road capabilities. No wonder how powerful and large the car is. Overall lengths remain at 190.7 inches and a wheelbase of 109.8 inches. The car is 75.8 inches tall and 72.0 inches wide. Passenger volume is still maintained at 124 cu ft, but trunk capacity is quite small at just 9 cu ft. Total curb weight is still quite high, coming in at 4400-4850 lb.

Security systems and equipment

The new Toyota 4Runner offers safety features as standard. We can hope to see all kinds of anti-collision features with stability control and anti-lock brakes, as well as eight airbags including front knee airbags. The rearview camera is standard and will be offered across the lineup. The previous model was rated 4 stars by the NHTSA while the IIHS rated it as “Good”. They could try to improve some of the current specs by changing a few things.

Competing models

The Toyota 4Runner is a very unique vehicle, so it’s even hard to determine what competing models it will have. There are a number of SUV-oriented cars, but also those that offer off-road capabilities as well. Models that will surely be featured in this segment include models like the Jeep Grand Cherokee , Jeep Wrangler, Lexus GX460, and the latest Subaru Outback .

Infotainment update

The scarce supply of the Toyota 4Runner means we were hoping for certain updates that could give us something new. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and the model will go another year without the Android Auto or Apple CarPlay that most people were expecting. In any case, the 4Runner is a car from a different era and has its advantages, but they won’t ride on the success it has had so far for as long.
