Toyota crossover line was supplemented by a new Toyota Corolla Cross model, which received a new original body, but the interior was borrowed from the classic Toyota Corolla sedan. The new model will occupy a niche between the Toyota C-HR and Toyota RAV4 models , and its closest competitors will be the Hyundai Tucson and Kia Sportage .

While the main markets for the new crossover Toyota Collla Cross will be Asian countries. In , the car will go on sale in Australia, but sales of new items on the European market are not considered in the near future.
The images taken by Toyota show the Corolla Cross with the wheels that identify the hybrid version, although a version with a petrol engine will also be marketed. Both engines will be the same as those we already know in the current Corolla: the 2.0 petrol with 177 hp and the hybrid with 1.8-liter petrol and an electric for 122 hp. Both carry a CVT box.

The interior of the Corolla Cross is exactly the same as that of the Toyota Corolla sedan with a 9-inch center display, instrument panel with digital speedometer scale, dual-zone automatic climate control, sunroof, seven airbags, keyless entry to the salon, adaptive cruise control, all-round visibility system, blind spot monitoring, lane tracking and LED optics.
For a more comfortable seat, the crossover has a wide door opening in the rear, and the angle of the rear seat backrests can be adjusted by six degrees. The luggage compartment has a capacity of 440-487 liters (depending on the equipment). An electric drive with a contactless opening function is available as an option for the fifth door.

For the Toyota Corolla Cross , two power units are offered: a basic petrol 1.8-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine (140 hp and 175 Nm) paired with a variator or a hybrid, which includes the same 1.8-liter, but only a less powerful atmospheric engine (98 hp 142 Nm), an electric motor (72 hp 163 Nm) and an electromechanical continuously variable transmission. The total power of the hybrid power plant is 122 hp.
The crossover is based on one of the variants of the GA-C platform with independent front suspension with MacPherson struts and semi-independent rear-wheel drive only on the front wheels.

The assembly of series models of the Toyota Corolla Cross will take place in Thailand, where orders for the crossover have already been received. The base price is 24,000 euros. By comparison, the C-HR costs at least 20,000 euros.
