Toyota Hilux 2025: Updates and hybrid version
The upcoming Toyota Hilux is a model that is constantly improving. The famous pickup will arrive with a hybrid powertrain, which is a major upgrade. However, the rest of the changes are part of another mid-cycle redesign. Regular and hybrid variants look the same. This means that both models will receive the same updates.
SUV Toyota Hilux
Hilux is one of the most popular nameplates in Australia and New Zealand. It’s a complete package as it now offers improved fuel efficiency too. Sales start this summer and here’s everything you need to know about this new pickup truck. In terms of visual improvements, the new Toyota Hilux features another mid-cycle styling.
We don’t expect any major changes, but some refreshments are exciting. Toyota is working on a lighter platform and new lightweight materials. Thanks to this, the new Hilux will be lighter than before. This will lead to better fuel economy figures.
The front fascia features improved LED headlights and the rear part gets the same treatment as the headlights. New optional wheels are also reportedly in the works. Shape and truck dimensions do not change at all. The grille is slightly reshaped and the bumpers are bolder than before. We also expect new exterior colors. Hilux still offers three cab configurations, a single, an extra and a double cab.
Changes and upgrades in the interior
The cabin of the Toyota Hilux is also ready for numerous updates. Firstly, the interior design will not change this time, and we expect the same interior trim as well. On the other hand, Toyota plans to modernize the cabin and also provide higher quality materials. New upholstery will be available and the manufacturer also plans to introduce more chrome accents.
Interestingly, but previous models did not offer phone integrations like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. These features will be offered as standard from now on. Hilux should introduce an improved digital instrument cluster, and the truck will also get an updated infotainment system. Finally, Toyota will provide the latest safety aids that are optional in the entry-level models.
Hilux truck gets hybrid power
The existing engine lineup will not change. However, the Toyota Hilux will introduce a new hybrid powertrain option. For now, a 2.8-liter turbodiesel engine remains, which delivers 175 hp and 330 lb-ft of torque. The same engine combined with the electric motor creates a hybrid powertrain. It is a mild-hybrid system that improves the truck’s fuel economy.
In addition, we expect a little more power. According to reliable reports, Hilux Hybrid will generate around 200 hp and up to 350 lb-ft of torque. This is not official yet, but Toyota will release exact specifications in the coming months. As before, a 2.4-liter engine is also on offer and the manufacturer offers both manual and automatic transmissions.
Prices, release date
The upcoming Toyota Hilux of will once again cost less than €30,000 (Euro). A new price is not yet available, but this famous pickup should cost around €28,500 (Euro). A hybrid model will cost more, around €35,000 (Euro). Toyota will launch its Hilux model later this year.
