Price and release date

The release date is not expected to be in early , but the car will make its official debut at the New York Motor Show, when fans will be able to get their first look at the new Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. Information about the release date will come closer the closer we get to the show. The price, on the other hand, has already been given out. Since the base XLE option costs €26,125 (Euro), while the RAV4 Limited version costs €29,335 (Euro), the RAV4 Hybrid will be priced at €30,000 (Euro).

Design

The case with the exterior design of the RAV4 hybrid vehicle for the 2016 model year is that it looks a lot better compared to the base version of the car that comes out for the same model year. It has been updated to look much more modern and has a futuristic tone if you look closely at it. The most noticeable thing is that the front end of the car has taken a book from the Toyota Mirai design and taken it and made it its own. It’s not a complete copy, of course, but you can see where the idea comes from. The entire front look is exclusive to the hybrid version of the car and includes a more angular fascia that has been given smaller headlights up front.

The rear changes are not that exclusive but there are some. The most noticeable are the clear tail lights which add a certain charm to the car. The rest of the changes are Toyota’s signature blue highlight on the company logos and some new colour schemes that this model includes. The shade on offer includes the Magnetic Grey Metallic, the Super White, the Classic Silver Metallic, the Blizzard Pearl, the Black Sand Pearl and an exclusive new colour which has been simply dubbed as Blue by Toyota.

Inside Changed design

The interior has not been changed drastically in this matter. Since the focus was more on the external appearance of the Toyota RAV4 hybrid version, the interior has not been updated that much. So, if you are familiar with the interior of the base version of the RAV4, you will not have any problems with the hybrid version as well. On the other hand, the most noticeable changes can be seen in the instrument cluster as the hybrid components required for the vehicle to function have been added. Another thing is the interior space of the car. The added hybrid powertrain takes up some space that the RAV4 has. Actually, the Basics version is perceived as a fairly spacious vehicle with plenty of cargo space, but when it comes to mounting the hybrid components, it consumes too much space than people hope.

Powertrain specifications and performance

The powertrain of the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid will continue to combine the same engine that was previously used in its original form. The 2.5-liter inline-four engine will be combined with the hybrid technology, but the power ratings have yet to be announced. Since we have no confirmation of how much they actually are, all we can say is that Toyota has announced that it will be greater than the 176 horsepower that the base version provided.

It is paired with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission and comes standard with Toyota’s electronic on-demand all-wheel drive system. This system uses a separate rear electric motor that adds torque to the vehicle and increases acceleration. The EPA rating is also kept under the radar, but since a similar powertrain combination was used in the Lexus NS 300h, we expect fuel economy to be around 33 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway.
