Toyota Tacoma EV 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
Toyota’s next-generation Tacoma pickup will add an electric powertrain to its lineup. Look for the so-called Tacoma Electric to go on sale about a year after its gas-powered counterpart. While much about the Toyota Tacoma EV remains under wraps, the truck may have made its first public appearance at a recent event held by the automaker. How Toyota will integrate the electric powertrain into the truck’s frame is also a mystery.
SUV Toyota Tacoma EV
There’s a chance the company could follow the same path Ford took with its full-size F-150 Lightning electric truck, which runs on powertrain-specific terrain but shares key body panels with its gas-guzzling sibling. On the other hand, Toyota can save money by using the same frame for both gas- and electric-powered Tacomas. Regardless, we expect the Toyota truck to offer a range of more than 200 miles and a towing capacity that matches or exceeds its gas-powered brethren.
What’s new ?
We expect the Toyota Tacoma EV to share most of its exterior and interior parts with that of the next-generation Toyota Tacoma – a vehicle we expect to launch for the model year. As such, look for the Tacoma Electric to feature sporty styling like that of the Toyota Tundra , albeit with some powertrain-specific cues aimed at improving the truck’s aerodynamics, such as an enclosed grille and pronounced wheels, as well as EV-related menus in its central infotainment and digital instrument cluster displays.
Styling
Speaking of the Tacoma, the Toyota truck unveiled today has similar headlights (albeit shorter ones), a smaller closed grille, and a front bumper similar to the Tacoma TRD Pro. We don’t see the rear, but the profile appears to be identical.
The Toyota Tacoma EV is set to be the brand’s first pickup truck to offer a purely electric drive. If this happens, the Tacoma will be one of the first electric midsize pickups in the U.S. and Europe, if Toyota doesn’t delay its launch too long.
Inner
Like all concepts unveiled today, the interior design of the Toyota Pickup EV remains a secret. We suspect this is because the electric version will share the cockpit with the redesigned Tacoma, expected next year.
Price
Toyota hasn’t released any specific details about this model yet. Still, we’re betting that the Toyota Tacoma EV will be available exclusively as a crew cab in four-door form. Plan to drop at least (if not more than) $45,000.
