It’s imperative to note that Toyota has been building pint-sized trucks since the ’50s. The Toyota Tacoma has been around in technical terms since 1995, while the Hilux debuted in North America in 1968. Over time, the trucks have achieved a Camry-like interior and exterior design, a robust, powerful four-wheel drive system, and a robust pair of engines that have brought huge sales to the Japanese manufacturer.

Design
The Toyota Tacoma will look pretty cool as the front fascia will get a major refresh and a bold grille, larger fenders as well as a lower Cheshire Cat air intake, as well as a distinctly sharp-looking Tacoma move in the tailgate. For the Toyota Hilux, it will be sure to be different to keep up with its arch-rival Amarok. It will also have longer, taller and slightly wider approach and departure angles thanks to a new bumper redesign.

This means more torque and less power. For the Toyota Tacoma, Toyota will replace the old four-liter V6 with a new advanced 3.5-liter V6 based on the Atkinsons combustion cycle. No information on torque or horsepower was provided, but we expect a more powerful engine compared to the outgoing V6, but it carries over a previous generation 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine but thankfully will be paired with a new 6-speed automatic transmission.
Prices and release date
The Toyota truck will be offered in 5 trim levels and will go on sale between April and October of this year (2020). The base SR, the TRD Spot, the range-topping Limited, the TRD Off-Road Spot and the mid-level SR5. For the price, it is expected to remain stagnant at the current rate of €20765 (Euro). For the Toyota Hilux, the price is expected to remain the same at €20000 (Euro) or even less and will be released in the last quarter of this year (2020).
