Toyota Tundra 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The all-new Toyota Tundra will feature some small exterior and interior changes, but we expect them to be a bit bolder when we think about engine changes. Toyota Tundra is the largest and most powerful truck in Toyota’s lineup, competing directly with Ford and Chevrolet.

What is the release date and price of the Toyota Tundra?

We are not sure about the release date because it is too early to talk about it. Official data is very scarce and there have been no press releases on the subject. The only promising thing is that a press release was issued last night about the increase in sales in this fourth quarter. Sales in November were actually higher than last month, which is very encouraging considering the abundance of Toyota’s plans. We expect some first actual details, news and concepts in January, the production model in November and the release in December 2017 or early January .

The new price range for the Toyota Tundra will be between €32,000 and €50,000 (Euro), depending on the trim or model (with additional equipment).

Just a few slight changes to the Toyota Tundra exterior

Since this model has already undergone some changes a few years ago, we do not expect any drastic changes in the Toyota Tundra exterior. The only major changes could be some updates in the materials and mechanical nature. There were some issues that considered some strange vibrations when driving faster than 80 km / h. Every single model has this exact problem and needs to be checked.

Other cosmetic changes may include some easily upgradeable parts. The headlights could be improved by changing the shape and adding automatic high beam control. It already has DRL (Daytime Running Lights), integrated rearview camera, cruise control and easily controlled tailgate. The upper trim levels are sure to get some higher quality materials for the exterior, larger wheels, dual exhausts and different cabins and beds.

If they decide to change anything else, it would be a complete overhaul. The entire design would be rebuilt from scratch. They could do it two ways. They could go full hybrid – experiment with super-light materials, get electric motors and make them fuel efficient (which would be the smartest thing they could do).

Another alternative is to go “all American.” They could use some tuff, durable materials like steel and make a closed frame. However, the first option seems like a better solution. The F150 is made of highly durable aluminum, so we expect nothing less from the Toyota Tundra.

Interior is huge

The Toyota Tundra interior can be designed as a bedroom if you like it. There is enough space for creativity and it should be equipped with the best possible equipment. We expect all the additional gadgets of the current model as well as all the high-tech details available at the time of production. We expect the infotainment screen to be larger with some better functioning systems. We expect a better steering wheel with optional leather trim. The instrument cluster needs some work and can be made entirely of digital elements. The additional compartments are a possibility (there is enough space, so why not?).

Of course, you can’t expect everything at the base price. The higher the trim, the better the materials, equipment and air conditioning become.

Engine to add a diesel option?

The Toyota Tundra specs need to change, and perhaps a diesel engine would do the trick. The current and older models have the exact same engine lineups, which are not fuel efficient. We love these options just because they are extremely durable, but what about fuel efficiency?

Toyota has always used a simple formula in their design department. They call it the QDR formula. That stands for Quality Durability Reliability. Engines they make for their trucks are virtually bulletproof. They even found a guy who drove his Tundra over 1 million miles with only a few minor repairs to the engine. This way, they don’t plan on giving up and the formula that has given them one of the most stable customer communities. Toyota official representatives are pretty sure that the engine lineup will not change at all. They are confident in their engines and see no possibility of anything changing in the near future. On the other hand, that same future is not reserved for those who don’t want to change their polluting habits.

According to our sources and the latest rumors published by the Auto in Trend, Toyota has a plan for turbo and diesel engines. The bad thing is that nothing is specified. There are only a few engines that could be considered for the main role. Some of them are BMW’s 3.0-liter inline-six gasoline engine, which can produce between 350 and 500 hp, and the Cummins turbo diesel engine. Of course, lower strength brings better fuel efficiency. Perhaps it could even come with the electric motor, which would give better fuel efficiency and a few more ponies.

The diesel engine is also possible. Toyota could get Nissan’s new Cummins 5.0-liter turbodiesel engine. That’s what most rumors say, but there’s a problem. That’s not necessary at the moment. Fuel consumption for Toyota’s current engine range will not differ much from the new, more expensive diesel option.

They currently have two options: the i-Force 5.7-liter V8 with 381 horsepower and the i-Force 4.6-liter V8 with 310 horsepower and 327 lb.-ft. of torque. Fuel economy for these two options is 15 mpg combined/13 mpg city/18 mpg highway. If they invest in the diesel option, more specifically the Cummins engine, the numbers wouldn’t change enough to justify that kind of investment and/or price increase. Fuel economy for the Cummins turbodiesel is 17.7 mpg combined/15.8 mpg city/20.8 mpg highway.

Summary

The next model of Toyota Tundra will obviously change the way we see Tundra. There is a small chance that we will see some new engine options, including the diesel option, but this is just a possibility as there are no official confirmations on this topic. All the defects in the chassis, including the strange “vibration feeling”, will have to be addressed if Toyota wants to continue the production of this “giant”. New engines and new styling are the way to go for the Toyota Tundra.
