Tundra Hybrid

Tundra is a well-selling truck with so much to offer. This pickup competes with established models like Ford F-150 , GMC Sierra , Chevy Silverado and Ram 1500. Now the redesign is coming and the new Tundra will be even more competitive. In fact, Tundra is still lagging behind its competitors, so new updates will surely improve Tundra.

What’s new?

First of all, the next Toyota Tundra Hybrid will ride on the brand’s latest architecture. It is Toyota Architecture-F or TNGA-F. Thanks to this, Tundra will arrive as a body-on-frame truck with increased use of high-strength steel. In addition, the manufacturer will offer lighter materials. Tundra will also offer coil springs, just like the Ram 1500 pickup.

This means the leaf springs are gone. Ride quality will now be better and we expect better towing and payload capacity. We don’t know if the size of the Tundra will change due to the new platform, but we expect more details in the coming weeks.

Exterior and interior changes

As we said, the new Toyota Tundra Hybrid will look more aggressive. The front fascia will, as expected, see the biggest changes. Toyota is trying to improve its pickup lineup by giving it a look closer to the TRD Pro trim level. This is a good thing, as the TRD Pro trim levels look exceptional. The front fascia will include a larger grille and the hood will be higher. The entire exterior is more striking than before and some parts are also sportier.

Inside, the Tundra truck will offer the latest Entune infotainment system. A 12.0-inch touchscreen is available, as well as a large heads-up display. Additionally, Toyota’s Safety Sense suite is available, which offers more features than ever before. This includes aids such as advanced radar cruise control, lane departure warning, automatic braking, and automatic lane centering. We also expect small design changes in the cabin, but nothing major.

Tundra Hybrid Technical Data

As you probably know, the Tundra’s V8 engine is gone. The new model comes with a powerful V6 engine that makes 278 horsepower. If you want more power, higher-end trim levels offer a 3.4-liter engine that makes 416 horses. However, the Toyota Tundra Hybrid is coming and that’s about it. It’s a game-changer for many models and the Tundra truck is no different.

The new model will use a 3.5-liter engine that also powers the Lexus LS 500 model. Of course, the electric motor and battery pack create a powerful hybrid setup that produces around 450 hp and 500 lb-ft of torque. This is a significant improvement and Tundra Hybrid will deliver over 30 mpg combined. In that sense, Tundra Hybrid will now easily compete with models like the Ford F-150 Hybrid
