Many people wondered what the Toyota Yaris should do for us. The answer is a bit disappointing as the version of the Yaris model will only give us a small design. The model adds certain elements and changes for the exterior and also updates the interior. But under the hood and everything else remains mostly unchanged. The only thing we are really excited about here is the updated package that the Toyota Yaris comes with.

Yaris was in dire need of a change. The last time something major was done to the car was in 2012, which is a long time for the subcompact car segment. With the lack of updates and changes, the car was able to last so long and the only thing that kept it going was the expectation of updating it and adding more to its design. Unfortunately, it didn’t turn out the way we had hoped.
As the images of the Toyota Yaris have shown, there are some good things about the refresh. The car doesn’t have the cartoonish styling of the previous vehicles. In its base form, it looks a bit spartan, but the higher the trims, the sportier it becomes. It will return with a standard set of vehicles with the L, LE and SE trims available. The expectation of the Toyota Yaris coming in may not get all people’s hopes up after finding out how rare the refresh is. But the model will satisfy some fans who are interested in what the Yaris has to offer. The release date is set for mid-year and we expect the exact confirmation to come soon.
Price for the Toyota Yaris
The price of the latest Toyota Yaris will not be that different from the current model. The vehicle is a budget car and exactly what some fans are looking for. The model starts with a price of around $17,000, with the higher trims gaining a bit more.
What are the external updates?
The new exterior of the Toyota Yaris will receive certain updates that are designed to make it look better. While they succeed in doing this, in a broader sense they are not much innovation. They prevent the car from having those outrageous cartoon-like lines and they do this by updating the front and rear. Both the front and rear bumpers have been updated and the wheels also received a new design. The SE trim gets its own glossy black grille that sets it apart from the rest of the Yaris trims. The vehicle also uses 16-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Interior changes
The indie of the Toyota Yaris has changed a lot compared to the exterior. They have managed to add a lot of new technological features and have updated it for a modernistic styling. One of the improvements that is added is a new three-spoke steering wheel for the L trims. Some integrated controls have been added and the sporty gauges can be seen on all models across the board. For infotainment, a 6.1-inch touchscreen is added on the L and LE models while the SE uses a 7.0-inch touchscreen. The base models have Bluetooth, a USB 2.0 port, Siri Eyes Free for Apple devices and an AM/FM/CD player while the top SE model has HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio and an app for your smartphone that helps with navigation. The L and LE also use a black and gray combination for the interior while the LS has an all-black one.
What did the powertrain add?
It will most likely appear that the powertrain of the new Toyota Yaris will be the old one. It is actually the fact that we see this vehicle as the most frustrating, as we see it as an opportunity for them to give the fans something new. So we will have a 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine that produces 106 horsepower and is connected to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 4-speed automatic.
0-62 mph per hour and maximum speed
Since there are no new statistics available for the Toyota Yaris model, we assume that the old ones are still valid. It is quite obvious that this is so, especially since the car has simply carried over the engine. Thus, the acceleration of 10.2 seconds to reach 0-62 mph per hour remains, and this also applies to the maximum speed, which reaches 108 mph.
Will there be some improvements in fuel economy?
With the engine carried over from the Toyota Yaris, we probably won’t see any improvements in fuel economy. Although there have been some statements that the new exterior design could result in lower drag and reduce weight, this has not been confirmed for now. The previous model had an EPA rating of 30 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, 33 mpg combined and the new model will most likely carry over the stats.
Size and dimensions
The latest Toyota Yaris retains similar dimensions as the outgoing model. The size of the car is 155.5 inches, wheelbase 98.8 inches, height 59.4 inches, and width 66.7 inches. The interior allows a passenger volume of 86 cu ft, while the trunk allows a volume of 16 cu ft.
The safety assessments
There are no current safety ratings for the Toyota Yaris. These may be released a little later after the release date. As the car’s technology has improved, some safety gadgets have been added as well. Active safety features expand to include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, automated emergency braking and automatic high beams, which are standard on all trims.
Some other cars in the segment
Perhaps the only thing that can hurt the Toyota Yaris is the competing cars. This is no small thing, as the number of very good vehicles in the segment has increased. Perhaps the next model that Toyota prepares will not receive such a boring refresh as this version of the Yaris. Models to look out for include the Honda Fit EV model , the Ford Fiesta and the Chevrolet Sonic models , all of which are ranked higher compared to the Yaris model .
