Volkswagen Golf 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

There have been several announcements regarding the Volkswagen Golf. The model has released information about a facelifted version, the release date of which will be set for the upcoming model year. The released images that people have already seen are the only proof of this, and this time there were not only spy photos to confirm it.

Volkswagen Golf

The Volkswagen Golf car has been around since the 1970s, but the current generation made its debut in 2012. Since then, there hasn’t been much offered to this car and it was about time it got a makeover. They will build on the sporty character of the hatchback and redesign it based on the current design language of VW vehicles. This will not only involve redesigning the inside and outside, but will also update the car’s powertrain and safety features.

Although the VW Golf car was a fan favorite model, which is reflected in the great overall sales of this car, the base version looked a bit mundane compared to the GTI and R versions. This is a great opportunity to update the car and get its deserved makeover, which will be greatly appreciated.

It will go on sale at the end of 2017 and will continue to be offered as a version regardless of the early release.

Volkswagen Golf price review

Currently, the full price of the Volkswagen Golf is not available. However, we have listings for the US market that give us the S version and the Golf Wolfsburg editions for $19,895 and $21,595, both as a base MSRP. We can expect a full price list once the car gets closer to its release.

Exterior redesign

The facelifted Volkswagen Golf vehicle now has a much sportier design. The most updated part is the front fascia, which includes the most updates. A larger air dam is added that revolves around a double spine on top of the corner air intakes. The horizontal air flap in each corner opening has the impression of a separate unit rather than looking like a molded part of the fascia as before. The body lines are more pronounced and the chrome strip from the grille now extends into the headlights as well with a sporty looking LED strip.

The rear of the new Volkswagen Golf doesn’t change that much, but it comes with standard LED taillights, but the higher trim versions will come with animated flowing turn signals. The highest range models will include individual LEDs for the taillights and brake lights. Everything else remains the same and other parts of the Golf remain unchanged.

Changes and updates to the Volkswagen Golf interior

When we venture into the Volkswagen Golf, we still get a classic looking design of a golf cart. However, this does not mean that the car has remained completely unchanged as a number of features that we see have been updated. However, the most noticeable additions are the decorative panels on the dashboard, center console and doors. The seats get new covers and also the model now has a new carbon fiber panel in the dashboard and door panels. This way, they keep the car fresh and do not increase the price of the car with expensive redesigns.

The car’s technology is updated and the next generation of MIB infotainment systems are added. This also means that larger screens are offered and also enhanced features. You get the Composition and Discover Media systems with an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Discover Pro system has a 9.2-inch display. However, with this version, the black and white Composition Touch system is discontinued.

Impressively enough, we get a change under the hood for the Volkswagen Golf version. Under the hood, we see a new 1.5-liter TSI EVO gasoline engine that makes 147 horsepower and 189 pound-feet of torque. This version comes with Active Cylinder Management and common-rail direct injection, and scores impressive EPA ratings.

A second version is also offered, equipped with a 1.5-liter TSI, a 1.5-liter BlueMotion diesel engine with 128 horsepower and 147 pound-feet of torque.

0-62 mph per hour acceleration capacity

With the given and enhanced engines, the Volkswagen Golf will update the acceleration capacity. The base engine version will reach 0-62 mph per hour in 7.7 seconds, while the secondary engine will do it in 7.8 seconds. The top speed is 125 mph for both versions of the engine.

Fuel consumption

The newly updated powertrain of the Volkswagen Golf also offers updated fuel economy specs. The car will have some pretty good EPA ratings, with the base version having a really good setup. The updates made to the engine allow for a rating of 26 MPG City Drive, 37 Highway Drive, and a combined rating of 48 MPG. The secondary engine gives us a rating of 31 mpg city, 42 mpg highway, and a combined EPA rating of 51 mpg.

Dimensions

There will be no changes for the dimensions of the Volkswagen Golf. The car will retain its standard size and the designing will be carried over in the same way. The upcoming car will have a length of 167.6 inches, a wheelbase of 103.8 inches, a height of 57.1 inches and a width of 70.8 inches, which actually makes it a little shorter compared to the rival cars but still gives us a good choice when it comes to the segment.

Safety equipment and modifications

The Volkswagen Golf has also announced some enhanced safety features. These come in the form of specifications and equipment offered that are enhanced and provide a much safer environment for the people inside the car. The enhanced safety specifications come with City Emergency Braking with a new pedestrian monitoring feature, a new traffic jam assist and an emergency assist. These are the enhanced features that the model will be updated with alongside the standard offering that is already there.

Competing models

The Volkswagen Golf will have a hard time keeping up with the competition. However, with the expanded range, they offer a very good setup that can significantly affect the changes made to this model. Cars to look out for in this segment include the Mazda 3 and the Ford Focus hatchback version, which will be the most notable cars offered here.
