Volkswagen Touareg 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

The third- generation Volkswagen Touareg has been spotted several times already. Finally, there is more solid evidence of this model in addition to the images released. The car will finally be unveiled this year and the release date will come after that, which brings the new Touareg even closer to being on sale.

The spy photos surfaced back in early 2016 and it was an early sign that VW is preparing something big for its Touareg brand. Now we finally know that it will be a next-generation model that will give us a serious makeover inside and out. The model will also offer a new engine lineup with petrol and diesel options on the table.

Although the current photos still only show a small part of the car, we found that the biggest change is the use of the MLB platform, which makes this car much lighter. In addition, the SUV offers much more interior space and additional cargo capacity. Find out more about this car in our review.

What’s the price?

The price of the Volkswagen Touareg is not yet known. Initial prices will be released for the European market first, and US prices will follow. However, we expect the new model to go a bit beyond the outgoing model, so a base price of around €51,000 (Euro) is expected.

External changes and styling

Based on the amount of camouflage for the Volkswagen Touareg, we can estimate that the front and rear fascias will see the most changes. This also leaves other parts like the doors, roof and side skirts unchanged, but this does not mean that this car will be largely similar to its predecessor model. It has been announced that the car will take a lot of inspiration from the T-Prime concept that was shown at the last Beijing Auto Show.

This means the car will likely have a larger grille with thin headlights on the sides. We also expect a sporty bumper design with C-shaped LED daytime running lights. The rear end will likely add slim taillights placed high on the fascia and a cutout in the lower portion of the tailgate.

Inside Design and Update

The idea behind the interior of the Volkswagen Touareg is to borrow from the T-Prime concept. The dashboard will likely feature a similarly massive touchscreen in the center, while the instrument cluster, dashboard, and door panels will likely get a new high-end look with advanced technology.

The MLB platform also offers more space with the lower roof. Headroom, legroom and shoulder room are improved and we mean this specifically for the rear of the car. A larger trunk area is also expected with more storage compartments around the cabin.

Drivetrain and technical data

The new Volkswagen Touareg has been announced with petrol and diesel engines, but they will depend on the market in which it will be offered. For example, the American version is expected to come with a 3.0-liter V6 engine and a hybrid version with the same powertrain and an additional electric motor and this version will also be available to the European audience. There is also news that the new generation model will add 2.0-liter four-cylinder power units, which will be offered for models in China, Europe and possibly the Europe.

Power figures are still unknown, but we expect the starter to produce around 300 horsepower, while the hybrid form will crank out a combined 400 horses. Diesel variants are predicted to deliver 220 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque to start with.

0-62 mph per hour acceleration and top speed

The 0-62mph and top speed for the Volkswagen Touareg aren’t currently available, but we expect the numbers to be released soon with output details. We expect it won’t be too far off from the current model, so a time of between 7.5 and 7.7 seconds is expected to hit 62mph and a top speed of 120mph.

Volkswagen Touareg car fuel consumption

The new Volkswagen Touareg will likely offer some better fuel characteristics compared to the current model. Depending on the type of engine used, the model is predicted to have between 22 and 23 mpg for city driving and 27 mpg on the highway, which together gives us a rating of 23-24 mpg. Prices will arrive once the output is determined and we can differentiate them better since then.

Will there be dimensional changes?

It has already been reported that the Volkswagen Touareg will not change dimensions. This is perhaps unusual for a next-generation model to maintain its size characteristics, but VW is already planning a larger seven-seat SUV. So it makes little sense to have two similar cars with the same proportions, and therefore the model will remain the same, while at the same time the newly planned car will be able to take its own place in the VW roster. The Touareg model will be up to 189 inches long and 75 inches wide.

Security features

No concrete announcements have been made for the safety of the Volkswagen Touareg. This makes us believe that the setup is not yet prepared and we will get something new for sure. For now, we expect the basic type of offering seen with the previous model; airbags and a rearview camera with all the works, while the advanced offerings will be announced promptly.

Competing cars

Other vehicles in the segment that will be the closest competitors for the Volkswagen Touareg in are two main vehicles. These are certainly the Audi Q7 and the Acura MDX .
