Range, charging and battery life

The EX90 is equipped with a 111 kWh battery pack, which Volvo says should provide a range of around 480 km per charge. The vehicle is equipped with a standard DC fast-charging system that can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in just 30 minutes. The EX90’s electric vehicle architecture also allows for bidirectional charging, so it can be used as a backup power source during power outages or to charge another Volvo EV when needed.

EV Motor, Power and Performance

The EX90 will be equipped with a dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrain, with two options available: a 402-hp Twin Motor model and a 496-hp Twin Motor Performance variant. The powertrain architecture is new and is also used in the recently launched Polestar 3 , which offers an even more powerful 517-hp version. Despite its expected higher weight compared to the petrol XC90, the EX90 is expected to offer brisk acceleration. Volvo says the Twin Motor model will reach 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds, while the Twin Motor Performance will do it in 4.7 seconds.
