Volvo XC60 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
The current generation of this compact crossover has been around for a few years now and is still quite fresh in most aspects, so it’s no wonder many consider it a class leader.

Still, Volvo is a company that likes to have full control in its hands, so there’s no doubt that we’ll see a design pretty soon. Some sources even suggest that it could happen as early as this year for the Volvo XC60. Officials are still keeping quiet about that.
If designing takes place, you might expect updated styling, but some sources suggest that we could see some modifications inside as well. This particularly refers to the infotainment system, which could easily be completely redesigned. On the other hand, most of the design features remain untouched, so you can count on a crossover that offers a wide range of powertrains, a comfortable ride, a spacious cabin and many other advantages. We expect the updated model to arrive sometime in the second half of the year, most likely in the third quarter.
Design
The current generation of this luxury crossover has been around for a few years now, so we can say that it is still quite fresh, so no major mechanical changes should come with this update. Of course, it will continue to ride on a familiar SPA platform, while the biggest mechanical updates we could see are those related to the chassis setup, which could receive a few tweaks.
On the other hand, we could see some styling changes. The current model looks good and follows the brand’s contemporary design language. Still, we could see some tweaks at the front, with aesthetic solutions similar to those of the upcoming XC90. That would probably mean a slightly sharper approach to the bumper, grille and maybe even some modifications to the headlights. However, we are still waiting to see what the new generation XC90 will look like, so we can’t be more specific at the moment.
Inner
Some revisions could also be made to the interior. If you look at the current dashboard, it looks really good. Materials are great, as is the build quality. However, most drivers don’t like its infotainment systems because there are no physical buttons and knobs for climate and other basic controls, so we could see some revisions in that aspect.
On the other hand, we don’t expect any changes in the seating. Both rows of seats offer a generous amount of space, while the front seats are among the best in the class. Visibility is great in all directions, while we also like the fact that cargo space is quite generous. You can expect about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.
Characteristics
As for standard features, keep in mind that the recent refresh of the model brought quite a few new additions in this regard. Things like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, LED headlights, a wireless smartphone charging pad and front parking sensors, as well as a new 19-inch wheel design and power-folding exterior mirrors with auto-dimming, have been added to the list of standard features, so we don’t expect too many new additions in this regard for the Volvo XC60.
On the other hand, we expect this update of the infotainment system. The screen size could get bigger, but more importantly, we could physically control the basic commands, especially for the climate control. On the other hand, graphics and software in general are very good and we do not expect major changes in this regard.
Engines
This aspect is unlikely to change, so the Volvo XC60 should continue with three familiar powertrain options. First, the base models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, good for about 250 horsepower. There is an upgraded version of this engine that receives an additional supercharger that increases maximum power to 316 horsepower. Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version with a total output of 400 horses. All three models feature a familiar 8-speed automatic transmission from Aisin.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns about 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is fairly typical for the class. The PHEV is, of course, more efficient. However, this hybrid system is not as sophisticated as you would expect from a modern premium car, so our suggestion would be to stick with the base engine.
Release date and price
We expect the updated Volvo XC60 to arrive sometime in the third quarter of the year. The base price is expected to be €43,000 (Euro). Main competitors are models such as BMW X3 , Audi Q5 , Mercedes-Benz GLC etc.
