VW Atlas Tanoak 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.

Launched as a concept, the VW Atlas Tanoak could arrive in the near future. As the name suggests, Tanoak is based on the Atlas SUV, so you should expect a lot of similarities. The company’s goal is to sell its new pickup truck in Europe, but no one knows yet if that would actually happen.

In addition, some reports say that the upcoming VW Atlas Tanoak model will not enter production anytime soon. Some other rumors suggest a new model by the end of the year. Only time will tell the truth, but we must say that the concept has been very well received. Most likely, Tanoak will share the engine range with the Atlas SUV, and some speculations even mention a fully electric model in the future.

VW Atlas Tanoak looks modern

The all-new VW Atlas Tanoak is a combination of its original concept and the Atlas SUV. The styling is recognizable, but Volkswagen delivers unique exterior elements. Tanoak looks modern and we like that VW didn’t go for a more futuristic look like some other manufacturers. Tanoak will be a unibody pickup, but you can hear the rumors about body-on-frame architecture.

The goal is to tackle Honda Ridgeline in every way, and the unibody platform is just a start. Atlas Tanoak will most likely get brand new headlights and a unique grille with chrome accents. Narrow taillights dominate the rear section and we should expect at least three different wheel options.

Borrows a lot of stuff from his SUV brother

The upcoming VW Atlas Tanoak won’t surprise us with its interior. Anyway, the concept showed a simple interior with a solid list of standard features. Of course, the upper trim levels might offer a surprise or two, but the base trim level is exactly what Volkswagen has been offering for years. Logically, the pickup will borrow a lot of stuff from its SUV brother.

The interior is spacious and that’s great to hear. Cab configurations are not yet available, but we expect at least two cab configurations. The interior design is similar to the Atlas SUV and features the same dashboard and air vents. Even some buttons are replicated, but the upholstery is brand new. Overall, the cabin offers more than solid comfort and plenty of high-tech amenities.

Drivetrain

We don’t expect the VW Atlas Tanoak to borrow a full lineup of engines from the Atlas SUV. One unit that will certainly power the new pickup is a 3.6-liter V6. This gasoline powerplant produces 275 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. That’s more than enough to compete with the Honda Ridgeline and even models like the Ford Ranger and Toyota Tacoma.

The diesel powertrain is currently not in sight, but optional 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder gasoline seems the logical outcome. Thanks to a turbocharger, this engine delivers 235 hp and 280 lb-ft of twisting power. Even the transmission is a mystery at the moment. Finally, Volkswagen plans to introduce an all-electric Atlas Tanoak in the next four years.

Price and release date

In terms of price, the new VW Atlas Tanoak will cost around €30,000 (Euro). As we said, its main competitor will be Honda Ridgeline, but Volkswagen needs to make a breakthrough in Europe first. We are still waiting for the manufacturer to release more details, including cabin configurations and trim levels. If everything goes according to plan, we could see this pickup later in .
