VW Golf R 2025: Price, consumption, picture, technical data.
A year ago, the VW Golf R family debuted – then the basic hatchback was presented, to which powerful GT versions with petrol, diesel and “soft-hybrid” engines were added in the spring. Then the line included full-fledged hybrids and modifications with gas-powered engines.

But without the extreme variant of the VW Golf R, traditionally at the top of the range, the picture still looked incomplete. And such a car was finally presented to the public in Germany on November 4th.
Features of external appearance
From the outside, the Erka does not look as aggressive and assertive as one would expect. A special feature of the model is the glossy black decor for the front air intakes and the rear diffuser. The “charged” hatchback is also easily recognizable by the four round tailpipes. Other highlights are matt chrome-plated mirror caps, a blue light strip above the radiator grille and headlights, and blue brake calipers with R branding.
Original 18-19 inch rims were matched for the new Volkswagen Golf R. The exterior color palette includes Lapiz Blue Metallic, Pure White and Deep Black Pearl Effect.
Completion and completion
The interior of the most powerful Golf has a specific decor with blue accents, carbon elements and R symbols. The front sports seats are covered in nappa leather, the steering wheel is equipped with non-slip “paddles” for the DSG control and an R button for quick mode selection.
There are two information displays – a customizable Digital Cockpit and a 10-inch touchscreen of the Discover Pro Media Center. The latter displays a greeting when the car doors are opened. The backlight with 30 colors is synchronized with the display.

Perhaps the main innovations are concentrated in the hatchback technology. It all starts with the engine – the “Turbo Four” 2.0 TSI of the EA888 series has undergone a further upgrade and now produces 320 hp instead of the previous 300. The torque has been increased from 400 to 420 Nm. The engine is coupled with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 7-speed DSG robotic transmission.
The 4Motion all-wheel drive is also new on “Erka”. The rear differential now distributes traction not only between the axles, but also between the rear wheels. Thanks to separate clutches, up to 100% of the torque can be transmitted to each of the wheels. There are several driving modes that affect the operation of the drive – four basic (Comfort, Sport, Race and Individual) and two additional (Special and Drift). The names speak for themselves, only the Special preset requires some explanation. It is based on the Race mode, but modified for optimal performance on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. Well, the Drift profile allows you to make a car skid, but it is activated only after confirmation, since it does not imply use on public roads.
The chassis of the Golf R has also been significantly revised. The camber angles of the front wheels have been changed, stiffer springs and stabilizers have been introduced and the wishbone supports have been redesigned. The size of the front brake discs has been increased from 340 to 358 mm. Lighter aluminum brake calipers have been installed.
The ground clearance of the “charged” hatchback is 20 mm lower than that of the base five-door. The most powerful Golf accelerates to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds, the top speed is 250 or 270 km/h (if you order the R-Performance package, the limit is increased).
Price VW Golf R
The new VW Golf R is distinguished by a special body design, the most powerful engine and a newly developed all-wheel drive with traction vectoring. Sales of the car on the European market will begin in the near future. The price of new items will be approximately 50 thousand € (Euro).
