VW Polo 2025: A new look at style and technology
On the Russian market, the VW Polo is now presented in the body of a liftback, and this car is the closest relative of the Skoda Rapid model. In Europe, the Polo is sold in the compact hatchback format, which entered its third generation about four years ago and is now preparing to debut in an updated form. The restyling brought the five-door a new body design, better finish and improved electronic equipment.
Styling changes
Design, the new VW Polo is easily recognizable by its redesigned headlights and a different grille configuration. The rear part of the hatchback attracts attention with new lights with original graphics and additional sections on the fifth door. All lighting equipment on the five-door is now diode as standard, and IQ.Light Matrix headlights are offered in older trim levels.
The novelty was shown in the most expensive version of the R-Line, which is characterized by a special body kit, glossy black decor of the body elements and large rims (up to 17 inches). There are three simpler versions: Basic Polo, Life and Style.

In the Volkswagen Polo salon, improvements are of a local nature. One of the main innovations is the replacement of the analog scales of the devices with a digital one. Its size is 8 or 10.25 inches, depending on the version. In addition, a choice of several multimedia systems is available. The simplest – Composition Media – has a 6.5-inch display, the more advanced Ready2Discover Media Center is equipped with an 8-inch screen, and an infotainment complex based on the MIB3 architecture with a 9.2-inch touchscreen is offered as an option.
In addition to the equipment already listed, the redesigned hatchback features an air conditioning control panel with touch buttons, wireless charging for smartphones, a rear-view camera, interior lighting, and USB ports for rear passengers.
The list of available electronic assistance systems includes automatic braking, lane keeping and parking assistant. There is also Travel Assist Road Autopilot, an advanced version of radar cruise control. Another innovation in terms of safety is the introduction of a central airbag, which, when triggered, unfolds between the driver and front passenger and prevents a collision.
Specifications
A Polo hatchback will only be available in Europe with three-cylinder petrol engines. The following engines are available:
- 1.0 MPI (80 PS, 93 Nm);
- 1.0 TSI (95 PS, 175 Nm);
- 1.0 TSI (110 PS, 200 Nm);
- 1.0 TGI (90 PS, 160 Nm).
The “junior” naturally aspirated engine is combined only with a 5-speed manual transmission. The 1.0 TSI turbo engine can be paired with a 7-speed DSG “robot” regardless of the boost, and a manual transmission is also available for the 95 hp version. The 1.0 TGI gas engine forms a tandem with the 6MKPP.
